If there was anything more to it then they wouldn't have been blocking each other's powers later. But instead would have been flinging each other around the whole fight.

I've addressed the Yoda part. If you want clarification about Yoda not flinging Sidious around, well I guess that would suggest parity between them, and that force pushes aren't the same as directly overpowering your opponent, which is what would be required to control Sidious with TK.
If you have proof that either of them were caught off guard, you're more than welcome to provide it. Doubt you can seeing how your logic is out of this world (not in a good way), such as your notion that a random human fighting up close in combat makes up for the difference in speed in which numerous blaster bolts travel at a distance. If you can be a bit more logical than in our last debate and your current debate with KT, I'll be happy to carry on, otherwise I'm not real interested in arguing with someone who likes to argue just for the sake of it.

They were caught off guard, DP. Both were expecting dinner with Mas Amedda. Yoda was late, so Sidious blasted him and expected him to get up and apologize.

For the Love of Lucas.. Sidious was still sat down when he shot at Yoda which is probably why Yoda wasn't expecting it YET. You even clearly see the surprised look on Yoda's face as the Lightning is coming.
Then Yoda was Ko'd and just got back up, which is why Sidious was taken by surprise. He was laughing assuming the fight is already over, which is why he didn't jump at Yoda while he was KO'd.
There's nothing more to it. Was it idiotic? Possibly.. But people can be caught off guard by a surprise attack even mid-battle, let alone before the battle has properly commenced. Anyone who tries to make out there was anything more to it than catching opponents off-guard or by surprise is seriously grasping for straws.
