ISIS wants to have its cake and eat it too. The whole reason for their success is that they have a local focus. It's so much easier to get local populations to support you if your enemy is a local dictator rather than a distant adversary like America or a vague one like "the Secular West."

They don't really bother planning foreign attacks because it doesn't help them with their local ambitions, and because they hadn't been attacking the West directly it took a long time for Western nations to recognize their threat. But by taking credit for lone wolf operations they can at least appear like they haven't forgotten about fighting the foreign enemies.

They are also working well in vacuum left by the Arab Spring, and the war in Iraq. I also think that is partially true, I mean they fight against other muslims but the propaganda (atleast what I have seen) seem to be focused on west, in order to ensure mass recruitment from those areas.

True, provide their cause with a bit of Legitimacy to throw into the big social media machine in order to promote the idea that in the long run, their focus will be to topple the evil despotic demonic west.

I think the most interesting thing about ISIS is that their purpose is positively defined. Most terrorist organizations make their purpose through negative missions (meaning, they're against someone/something) whereas ISIS has the goal of creating an Islamic Caliphate. ISIS needs no enemy to define themselves because they're defined by the creation of a Caliphate. From what I understand, most Westerners who go to ISIS don't go out of hatred of the West but for some ridiculous utopian dream of a "true" Islamic Caliphate.

"The US says its special forces have killed a senior Islamic State (IS) member and captured his wife in a rare raid in eastern Syria.

Abu Sayyaf helped direct oil, gas and financial operations for IS, as well as holding a military role, the US Department of Defense statement said.

It said forces tried to capture him, but he was killed after engaging them.

Oil and gas have been an important source of revenue for IS, which controls territory in Syria and Iraq.

The operation was authorised by President Barack Obama and was carried out by forces based in Iraq. "

So why do people keep saying that Obama isn't doing anything again?

Where's James Bond when you need him?

Abu al-Baghdadi may still be alive and well:

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-32744070

"Islam was never a religion of peace. Islam is the religion of fighting. No-one should believe that the war that we are waging is the war of the Islamic State. It is the war of all Muslims, but the Islamic State is spearheading it. It is the war of Muslims against infidels."

So now apparently 32 ISIS militants were killed in the raid, and in addition to Abu Sayyaf, the Deputy Defense Minister and a "communications chief" were also killed, without even a single American wounded. That's a damn good raid if that information is all accurate.

Not surprised one bit.

Bad news.
Ramadi has fallen to the hands of ISIS.

Iraqi military forces were literally fleeing after the carnage by ISIS.
Weapons and ammunitions supplies left behind in the city are now in ISIS' hands.

The siege of Ramadi proves that US air strikes were futile.
Iraqi military forces were simply too incompetent to fight back the extremists, leaving behind all of the US weapons and arsenal at the hands of ISIS.

I grieve for the thousands of US soldiers who died protecting that city during the Iraq War.

yeah rip

...and yet another difference between a republican and a typical impotent democratic president. Screwing around with airstrikes is a waste of friggin' time. If a republican were president then you can bet this never would've happened because we would've had American troops there that would've kicked ISIS' asses six ways to sundown when they tried to take that city. Iraqi's are a joke that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. They remind me of the French during WW2. LOL. You want something done right then you have to do it yourself. That's assuming, of course, that you really want to do it and not just pretending that u care. In Obama's case, he'd rather keep playing golf while his muslim brothers are wreaking havoc throughout the Middle East.

Donkey presidents do such a fine job of running this country don't they? 🙄

Heee Haw. Heee Haw. LOL.
