no chi allowed, read the OP
Without Chi, Shang would be dead.
That's one thing the current Living Weapon series got right, when Davos drained the chi out of a group of soldiers and killed them in the process (As opposed to Jay Faerber having Junzo Muto drain the chi of Steel Serpent, and acting like he took away a super power instead of his life force.. I don't know how good Faerber is, but his New Warriors was awful.)

In a lengthy fight, KK likely would have pummeled him both times though, unless Batman pulled some weird tricks.
bad writing and PIS probably shouldn't be counted. Standing up to kk is PIS of the highest degree.
And people like Bane have never really stood much of a chance against Batman. The only reason he got him in Knightfall was because Bruce was already done because of gathering up his entire rogues gallery already and then, exhausted, ran into a juiced up Bane.
In even encounters Bane typically can't even hit him or just flat out runs when he sees him.
This has been seen over and over and over again.
In one of them Batman pretty much saying straight up Bane couldn't take him, and Bane agreeing and creating a distraction and running off during No Man's Land to Batman completely manhandling him like beating up a 5th grader in the middle of the Red Hood storylines.
One on panel statement a couple years ago doesn't make him the end-all martial artist.
He is also the peak of human achievement, considered olympic level or world record holder level in every statistic. He could literally medal in nearly every single event.
He's gotten the better of Shiva, Cassandra Cain, David Cane, and many others, and though he didn't put them down because they were not his real enemy he proved every bit at least equal to guys like Bronze Tiger and Richard Dragon, who pretty much being king shits of MA are what their characters are about.
Even when Prometheus said he downloaded the fighting ability of the top ten martial artists on Earth into himself, Batman wasn't worried, until he said he was one them being downloaded. This would lead a reader to believe he thought his chances were solid against the combined ability of all the above characters.
Batman does lose occasionally for one reason or another, he is human afterall, but short of Karate Kid [.. because hax.] , he's pretty much the top of the heap.

It's a documented part of his character.
He's often called a master of every Martial Art.
In others he's called the Master of all forms of combat.
Master of all Hand to Hand Disciplines.
In the DCUE He's called the greatest martial artist alive. He is also the peak of human achievement, considered olympic level or world record holder level in every statistic. He could literally medal in nearly every single event.

I know on at least one ocassion it seems pretty obvious that the writer was implying the only reason why Batman held his own against KK was because of circumstances (disease etc).
I did see one fight were Bane lost against Batman but didn't do badly.

Yeah, they used all kinds of excuses for Val's performance.
But the extended Countdown version of the fight made it look a lot more one sided in Val's favor, then the brief Crisis version.
