Useless team member cut

Started by JayDaDon12 pages

He may not be as versitile as someone like flash or GL, but Superman's power is definitely the most potent on the team. It packs more punch(krona buster notwithstanding)

That, and the credibility he gives the team too. That whole "well if Superman works with them, they must be good" thing.

I never claime she was useless. My candidates in the JL are GA, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Cap Cold Catwoman and Huntress. That being said WW brings nothing to the table outside of her lasso and her skill at MA that SM can't do much better.

If we use pre-Reboot. Wonder Woman also has the best defense (Bracers can tank anything), a tiara that can cut things even Superman or GL couldn't cut, higher magic resistance- and definitely higher magic knowledge- and Wonder Woman can speak with animals.

(Post-boot cuts most of that, though the 'best vs magic' still applies I think)

Really, almost all of the JLA is massively versatile. Even with all their overlap they usually have multiple things no-one else does. Superman has the best senses, and his energy absorption has come in handy more than a few times.

Yeah, just look how effective Wonder Woman was in Superman: Doomed or in Final Crisis or Infinite Crisis or any large event............

Final Crisis, where she lassos together the pieces of Darksied so things can get to normal? Short role, but framed as crucial for, y'know, the world living and all that.

Infinite Crisis, where in the run-up she prevented Maxwell Lord from having his own personal Superman that we saw in Booster Gold would've easily been a sufficient factor for him to win?

Your hate-on for WW is pretty darn transparent, y'know. If everyone knows you're just massively biased against a character and love tossing out their good feats, it makes it hard to take anything you say on them seriously. Poisoning your own well and all that.

Oh wait, she wasn't effective in her own event Amazons Attack............

WW barely in her own Event, so that's not too hard 🙂

I mean, seriously, Wonder Woman barely showed up in the event about WW's supporting cast, how dumb is that? One can hardly blame her for having something better to do than be in AA, of course, who would want to be in it...

Of course on other occasions, Diana's done stuff like lead multiple pantheons of gods against Cronus to prevent him from controlling reality, so she's done some *pretty* major things in other events of her own...

Not to mention the morale boost he gives the team in a fight. Everyone knows that if Superman's got your back then everything's gonna be ok. No other team member inspires that kind of confidence. Sure as Hell not Flash, LOL.

@JayDaDon: Also, Flash and GL are NOT more versatile than he is. Superman can deal with many more types of threats than either one of them can.

Yes, credibility with the common man really that Superman offers really is the most important aspect of a character when you're discussing their usefulness on a team.

Yeah they are more versatile. If were counting non retconned versions, they can and have done a lot more different things with their powers. Versatile doesn't equate to how many villains you've beaten. Superman beats 90% of them with his fists.

He's the original flying brick.

Actually, I think Captain Marvel was flying before he was. When Superman was first created he couldn't fly but could only leap huge distances and heights. I'm pretty sure it was only after Captain Marvel was created that Superman was given the ability to fly. I could be mistaken though but fairly certain I read it somewhere.

Oh, you're right.
But one of Superman's lesser known powers is the ability to have been first at everything even when he wasnt.

Hater.

That's actually true

See? 😂

There's no shame in not being the original flying brick. He's still the original (and greatest, by far) comic book hero. 🙂

Cause I said so. 😄 (kidding)

Seriously though, are you actually disputing that he's the greatest? He's the original and most well known of any comic book character (or ANY fictional character for that matter) and no other superhero comes close to inspiring others the way that he does. Not even Captain America. I don't understand how anyone could possibly deny that he's the greatest of all heroes. ✅

Most well known fictional character? Try Santa Claus or King Arthur.

By what measure is he the greatest comic-book hero?

Not by the utilitarian amount of good he has done in comics or by the amount of real life people he has inspired.

Is he the greatest comic-book hero because he is the most well known? That's no measuring stick for greatness.

Wow, now THIS is just...silly.

I know, the original poster should think his threads more throughly 😖hifty:

You should follow the conversation in the same way (thoroughly), considering you were actually a part of it at one point. Bit beyond you, obviously.
I'll catch you up.
Krisblaze is nitpicking Star428 on Superman being the greatest superhero. I find it silly because there's no nit to pick. He IS the greatest superhero.
