New 'Secret Wars' is Marvel Comics' major event of 2015

So they keep pushing dates back and decide to add another issue?
So are they still writing this thing or something? And if they were already finished why would they need to push other issues back?

Also lol at the link saying that people worried about it interfering with new Marvel launch. Nothing in that looks good.

Apparently the final issue of Loki came out last week, but the role of TOAA wasn't specified.

Also this whole event made me lose complete interest in comics. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't being spread out so much but right now pretty much every character I have interest in is coming out at around the same time. Surfer, Loki, and the rest of 616 from the main part of SW.

Maybe I'd care more about the shitty tie ins if they actually had some characters you weren't so sure were going to die at the end or if they threw some characters we already know in there (616). Maestro and Elsa Bloodstone are the only ongoing characters I have any interest in. The rest are mostly just 616 stand ins that are likely to die.
Or if they were actually good for that matter. How do you **** up Inferno that bad I haven't a clue...

These tie ins were supposed to be fun not just shitty hold offs that you read while you wait for the latest delayed news from the main series. I don't even like dl'ing them anymore.

Also for all the tie ins, you'd think there'd be one actually covering the main events to some degree. Or some wacky adventures of the Doom gang before this event. Everything is so secluded and I have my doubts anything is going to intersect between minis and main. I guess we'll see next year though when the wall falls and see if that effects any other mini.

I 100% agree with you Bran. Convergence killed DC for me and now Secret Wars did for marvel. The quality of books are terrible and haven't been excited about a series in a loooooong time.

Arkon should be in that list.

Obviously I agree, it's been months since I followed any ongoing book by the Big 2.

Convergeance...

I'll say this about DC though, they finish events in a timely fashion. As shit as Convergeance was, they Kenny Florian'd the piss out of that event.

Marvel gets a good event and draws it out as long as they can. Even if your interest is high like mine was, your patience gets dragged through the mud in the process. And they cancel almost all the ongoings in the process so they force you if you want to read anything to read utter shit. I pretty much stopped reading comics because of this outside a couple issues a month. There's nothing of interest in the new comics and it's making the old comics less desirable to flip through as a result... for me anyway.

I can see how Quan was doing that different hobby thing now. Where one hobby was raping the other hobby into a corner. I just don't even want to read comics anymore. Even if this main series turns out excellent, the horizon looks dim as hell.

I might check out the Arkon mini and then go back to my despair.

There is almost nothing left of Marvel or DC that I have any interest in at all anymore. Other than a couple of titles that have some novely interest, this Secret Wars event is almost all crap IMO. It has largely destroyed my interest in Marvel. DC is mostly unreadable too. Mind you, stopping reading comics is probably a good thing.

can't wait to read your summary of it. 👆

Marvel is increasing Secret Wars by another issue. I don't mind, but I hate their season, constant relaunching mode. Very unnecessary and a tired old gimmick.

Secret Wars is actually half-way decent. The tie-ins and whatnot are garbage though.

The main problem, as I see it, is that Hickman leaves Marvel after he's done with Secret Wars. So unless Marvel manages to pick up some good writers I don't see any reason to continue reading Marvel. I'm already fed up with these origin stories and character revamps, so I'll definitely won't stick around for the beginning.

Hickman isn't the only good writer Marvel has. There are several titles that look interesting. Karnak for one.

So...Reed is facing a Omnipotent Doom.

My biggest issue is that there's no way most of the tie-ins remain canon to whatever's going to come out of Secret Wars. What incentive do we have to pay any attention outside the main book?

Doom is always omnipotent, fool. This arc just makes that point a bit more explicit.

Good to see a Guardians book is back in good hands again, Dan Abnett writing for one of the new books

Oh god I had just about managed to forget all about that event. That was worse than Secret Wars.

The only good thing about Convergence was seeing the real Superman again.

Convergence was a means to an end, though. It "brought back" the multiverse, including pre-Flashpoint DC. Sh*tty arc aside, that's worthwhile, yeah?

To me it seemed kinda like filler until Darkseid War was gonna be released. Convergence was a good way of bringing back certain characters and a way of making publicity (good or bad).

which is why, ultimately, i think it will have been better than secret wars which feels like a bunch of random less-than-mediocre what ifs....

Yes, instead they could spoon feed us those what ifs Under a package and call them Age of Ultron, Age of Maestro, Age of Morgan Lefay etc.

Count your blessings leo ahah

I found this, a comprehensive analysis on the Beyonders. It's definitely worth a read.
