In the end Kong had to go through two amps (three if you count him being retconned into being Godzilla sized) just to stand even with Godzilla and even then managed only an off-screen win because godzilla got caught in an earthquake and he didn't.

Regardless, Kong got ko'd twice on-screen in the movie and Godzilla didn't get ko'd even once, and only lost due to bad luck off-screen.

The company is free to have their fictional characters do whatever they deem necessary. They deemed Kong winning.

Your opinion is just your own the studio clearly intended for Kong to win.

Now I'll speculate as to the matchup between Kong and his lesser monster Zilla. I believe Kong will close the size gap in the decades that will follow his film. I also believe he will have three clear advantages over Zilla. Strength, intelligence, and speed. His ability to strategize will indeed make him look superior in their battle which will most likely end with them teaming up for another monster be it Ghidorah or someone else.

I liked the movie a lot, but..lol, just picturing Kong being the size of Godzilla just seems funny to me. Assuming they decide to make Kong Godzilla sized.
