So was this actually good? Thought it was going to bomb, trailers were pretty mediocre.

Yes, it's awesome. Go see it. And I'm not even the type that necessarily likes tons of CGI filling the screen. But this is a lot of fun.

Ok, thanks 👆 Might see it today.

Any connection to Peter Jackson's Kong or it happens in a different continuity?

Not entirely sure, but I think it's a pretty complete reimagining.

No none.. Kong is part of the 2014 Godzilla universe

Yeah, I saw the post-credits scene. Good movie.

Caught this last night, enjoyed it, an all around fun monster flick. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

I know, right?

Where else are you going to get to see King Kong wrestling a huge f#cking squid?

In the Original King Kong vs Godzilla?

Funny Trivia Tidbit...after this scene.. The Director at the octopus for lunch.

lol.. it's amazing how far visual effects have come.

I can't even tell what's going on in that still.

Kong's fighting off a giant octopus that attacked a village.

The giant squid scene in Kong: SI was likely an homage to that scene, I initially thought it was an octopus he was going to fight in the new film when I saw the tentacle.

Kong>Zilla.

This was excellent. Solid self contained story. Decent performances. Excellent visuals, brutal deaths, good humour and a ****ing outstanding soundtrack. 8/10

How exactly do King Kong and Godzilla operate on different scales?

This is a unique great King Kong movie that isn't attempting to the same old reused story for most King Kong movies since it has seperators.
Hillarious that persons complain no deep characters pretty sure no other King Kong movies had deep characters so not exactly something new and it has likable understandable characters plus villains that are more misguided than evil.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate either. This movie rocked.

It was a good formula where no one character outshone the other.
They all got equal screen time & played their personas well.

I also liked the fact that the moment Goodman & Jackson's characters showed their true motives they were soon taken out of the story so the focus went back to Kong.

I guess persons want to complain because finally it broke out of a predictable formula or maybe they just want to complain.

Also obvious reference to Jurassic Park with a unmistakable line by the same actor.
This is on my list of best movies of 2017.

Saw this the other day, it was decent.

A minor thing, but I loved Jackson saying “Hold onto your butts.”

Much better than the Godzilla film.
