I think Secret Wars likely came first. It has actual lead-up comics for, like, the last two years or so (Hickman's work).

Meanwhile, the out-of-universe events leading to this, the consolidation of DC's offices, took about as long, but DC tends not to plan so far ahead.

And both companies turn to this sort of thing a lot. So, yea. No-one can really claim originality.

Wonder Woman's forearm swords and shoulder pads are unneeded. If they want to put her in a suit of armor then do it. Don't go quarter way with spandex and hooker boots and shit.

Superman isn't even a costume. He's just a color change Superboy with bloody handkerchiefs on his hands. I don't even understand why they felt the need to change him. Did he feel his invulnerable suit was too much? He wanted to be casual with denim and a cheaply made shirt at the mall?

I know some people complained about the New 52 costumes, but I always felt like they were modern reimagings of what they had before. These just feel like complete departure.

I like that when I look at Batman I get the sense that he's just a part of a cannon fodder army.

Another set of changes, although these are not as drastic and I don't mind them.

Green Arrow looks fine. Both Superman and Batman look like they're not ****ing around anymore. Even the solits say, "No holding back."

i admit Superman does look more badass in that pic with mecha-Batman.

DC needs to stop trying to give Diana pants. They suck at it.

If they want to modernize her look, give her pteruges, a cuirass or breastplate and greaves and leave her the hell alone.
