It still was a resounding success so who cares. If he was mediocre the folks at Disney wouldn't have pleaded with him to direct. I believe Lucas did as well. Lucas is mediocre at best as a director.

As per popularity I believe Harry Potter wins if the research I've looked at says it beats Star Wars.

In terms of if the wizarding world met the Star Wars universe. Star Wars greatly outnumber Harry Potter and has the force while Harry spotter has magic and that's it. Also I say just magic because HP magic seems so limited in a way. However the Hp universe would do a lot of Damage before it over. Firestorm, feindfure can work. The Aqua spell Dumbledore used in order of the Phoenix, and many other spells. Also the HP universe could mind control the clone troopers into attacking each other.
