The All You Need To Know guide (or whatever the hell it's called) officially recanonized all of the previous Legends lightsaber forms, yeah.

Terrible. Each Jedi Knight should create their own form that suits them. Thankfully, the only use one form BS is gone.

Wouldn't that just be the same as using one form if they create their own?

Also how is using one form BS exactly? They can use more than 1, just they prefer to use 1 over all the others, not like they aren't trained in all forms.

Yes. But if each was unique it would be as if they are using multiple of the current forms. Consider two Jedi, in the way forms are currently laid out if they duel in a similar fashion they will also block blaster bolts in a similar fashion. But , if forms are unique, the two Jedi may still duel in a similar fashion but deflect blaster bolts in very different fashions.

Beyond that, each Jedi's form would (hopefully) be more expansive. This also answers your second question. Currently the forms are veyr regimented and pretty much broken into power attacks (Djem So), unpredictable attacks (Juyo), almost entirely defense (soresu), etc... It's silly. Any reasonable fighter is going to mix things up and not just stay defensive until an opportunity presents itself or continuously try to plow through the opponents defense physically.

Hm...true to a point I guess, although it's not like Soresu we haven't seen those also have attacks with them.

The Jedi do have the ancient basics of sword fighting down IE: Form 1, which is a good all around form that they have to have shown Mastery of before they can move on with training. Least according to the Jedi Path.

So there is multiple forms in there, just not a big one. Well also trained in other forms too, but they just have a preference.

Why can't they do that while still working with a certain base? It's obvious that Obi-Wan or Anakin don't use Soresu or Djem So respectively all the time.

Yeah just realized, all Jedi are trained in the various saber forms with Form 1 having Mastered. So it's clear that they use them in a mixture, while going with the one they prefer the most, which of course is the more profound and notable one that is gonna shine, but then also factoring the others. The Jedi do sort of have their own personalized style of sorts, but they also focus on one more than the rest.

That would be fine. However, when you read RotS which is really one of the few novels where the forms actually come up, it reads as if they use that one form only. Therein lies my problem.

Interesting there's now 2 main sets of Trials Jedi face. Initiate Trials to become Padawans then of course the main Trials to become a Jedi Knight.

Pretty much Yes, but it did change where the main emphasis lies with some of them, Niman sounds quite different to me.

Does it? It emphasized integration of Force abilities in combat, IIRC.

I don't remember the old Niman being primarily a Saber Staff form.

There were the Initiate Trials and then the Knight trails before.

Niman had some association with Jar'kai/saberstaffs in Legends, I think because it was a balanced form that wasn't too demanding it was a good gateway to pick up a new weapon type (and many Jar'kai users such as Kun, Krayt and Maul are Niman masters).

Now it's a purely Saberstaff form that emphasises TK-combat as well, which is pretty cool. The Inquisitor, Savage, Pong Krell, Ventress and Maul all seem to favour it.

I don't know about that. Maul and Savage still seem to favor Juyo more than anything.

Alright read the new chapters of The Kanan comics.

So here's a few little tid bits.

Cin Drallig appears in Kanan 008 wielding Jar'Kai. Pretty cool. Maybe we can get more of him in the future?

Kage Warriors are Mercs for hire apparently?

Obi-Wan seems to have a close relationship with Depa. Hopefully a novel featuring them both or a one shot comic?

And spoilers!

Spoiler:
Depa's being referred to as "damage goods" by several padawans no Jedi Masters, CW generals or anyone has confirmed that she was beating terribly bad GG or anyone like that, dismissing the notion that some imbecile put out there. She did mention something about losing several men(she being depa) but it's pretty vague, perhaps they're keeping her past ambiguous?

Kanan stuff

Spoiler:
He's apparently really damn strong after losing Depa, he knocked the wind out of his friend Janus with a knee, nice strength feat tbh. since the last time he uses the force is during tk'ed the hell out of the clone, this feats is pretty cool. Also, we see him arriving on a new planet after the Last Padawan arc, so maybe we're going to get more Young Kanan comics/novels?

and, Mace is a badass like always, but i miss the side of him that loved depa like a daughter. oh well. If you haven't checked out the Kanan comics, give it a look, if not for the story, maybe for the artwork, it's freaking beautiful

Where do you see Jar'Kai? I only see him destroying one of those drone things.

I'm going to laugh if the two humiliate Grievous

Yeah I missed his Jar Kai as well.

Actually in the latest SW Comic

Spoiler:
Chewie
was going Jar Kai Lol.

Grievous potentially raping Depa so hard she went into a coma for months is the greatest thing ever.

Ah yeah, now that I do recall...which I'm kinda disappointed that Non-Force Users are just picking up lightsabers and using them like that.

So in this new canon are they just gonna be treated like regular blades then? I know Han says he was being careful not to cut himself, but that doesn't really ease my worries.

I liked that only a proper Force User could wield a lightsaber, if anyone can use it...then what's the point of having Vibroblades and the like?
