That doesn't mean Oppo is better. Maybe Bulq was counting on his familiarity with Mace and Maces sentimentality to give him the edge, while he was intimidated by Oppo's multi-armed style.

That's how I view it. Sora was familiar with Mace and they both knew each others styles well. Sora just played it safe with Oppo.
