Spiderman vs Ares (Marvel)

Started by Sin I AM19 pages

Thread went south rather late in the game

I was still posting scans 🙁

Well seeing as how noone has provided a good argument for Parker the thread ended pages ago

It ended on page 1, when Digi, creator of the Spidey respect thread, was unsure if Ares was that much of a jobber that Spidey had a chance.

Lol i peeped that. I love the part when someone said Parker was unhittable.

X-man wasn't altering time doe (at least, not initially).

He was hiding in the Planck moments, between time. Ares followed him. They then fought. The repercussions meant that time was altered. He was able to launch attacks at someone who was moving so fast, he was between moments.

Basically it was plot driven. Ares was somehow immune to the mechanism. Which is my point. It was a reflex or speed feat at all.

Yes.

But then you know Wolverine matching/surpassing Spidey's speed has to do with his super-senses mixed with his skill/enhanced stats, etc.

Why you're making excuses just NOW?

If Wolverine ever matched or exceeded Spidey's speed in a comic then that can be chalked up to Spidey not operating at his best ability. Slade and Batman matched Diana in speed doesn't mean Diana was operating at her best.

It'd be nice if people wouldn't mention pis moments at all

I hope we all keep this exact same mindset next time Batman is up against someone who should turn him into paste.

Batman gets a pass for the same reason Cap does. It's a unmentioned yet often used part of his powerset. The same way his shield toss can floor thanos is the same way a bat kick can move soectre. It's what they do.

Eventhough they both have a plethora of showings where they dont look so good. Just like spidey. They're in the same boat.

Between Spidey and Bats, only one of them is specifically mentioned in forum rules as an example of PIS.

No they are leagues ahead of Spider-Man in that category. A batarang, shield toss, scowl or verbal assault would do more damage that Parkers hardest blows

Pure fanboyism or at the very least PIS. Even if they get the benefit of that, that would mean they have done it many times in comics so it is no longer PIS. Spidey has stood up to and put a serious hurting on dudes who should smear him his whole career. So he is getting that same privilege right? How is there any difference?

Creator of the first one. The most recent was Darkcrawler's and it put mine to shame. Which is nothing against mine. At the time it came out, DC's was arguably the most complete respect thread on the internet. Credit where it's due.

Herc might have punched him dozens of times, but then, if you want to use high feats (and yes, for a d-lister like Ares, Herc fight = high feat), Parker actually hurted IG Thanus with a kick.

Pretty much EVERYBODY was hurting Thanos to some degree in that fight. Spider-Man hurting him ain't really that impressive in that context.

And Carter weeps because his "Wolverine stabbed IG Thanos" isn't all that.
