If I could justify it in character I would. That said the Bureau is better equipped, from Wentar's point of view, to handle the clean up planet side while we go after the Dark Siders.

I am fairly suspicious that the comms interference is suddenly gone just as the Bureau hailed us after the Dark Siders leave, especially considering Rast pinpointed the interference coming from planet side and not their ships.

Rast probably doesn't feel good about the comms interference suddenly clearing up either, but I guess maybe the Dark Side team could have set it only so long as they're in the system?

Hmm.

A hyperspace tow is beyond you- you basically need to be able to fit the ship inside yours to carry it that way.

Heck you've not even had time to work out those co-ordinates Merik gave you, but to be sure, they are a long way away. No closer than Hoth.

Long range comms are very susceptible to tracing. In any case, it could take days for help to reach you, whereas pursuers could be on you in minutes.

You need to gogogo, and lose your pursuers.

-

Jedi- you've been hooked into the surveillance network of the bureau; you can have this 3-d holomap showing a network of planetary relays and satellites that overs most of the Republic. You've never seen an interstellar effort of this scale before; the sovereign worlds of the Republic generally don't operate as a single political entity like this. It's certainly not like the effectively informal operation of the Jedi, where you either wander the stars and see what issues you find or respond to specific requests for help, generally depending on peoples faith in the Jedi to represent justice.

The Republic has no army and even the Senate barely functions as a galactic organisation, so often defied amongst the countless member worlds without anyone noticing, but this time you are seeing evidence of something with a truly galactic reach.

And they are all pinging now to fix your trace, more comprehensively than you ever could.

Wentar is curious about what the network actually surveys, like is it just pinging like a radar, detecting frequencies being transmitted by ships or something else entirely.

Can we tell how this network functions from what we're seeing here?

"This is impressive," Andro comments on the holomap being displayed, "and frightening. The Bureau's reach is far beyond what I could have imagined."

The network is basically a signals one, using dropped satellites and planetary installations as sensors and relays. It detects ships by their transponder codes (or red flags ships flying with no codes at all). The Bureau is primarily an immigration service and the major concern that led to its founding was that criminals could hop between sovereign worlds (private ship ownership being such a big thing in this setting) and there was little co-ordination between, say, worlds at either end of the galaxy. Now when a criminal ship is flagged, the Bureau can track it wherever it goes.

Okay at this point Xavier will say our best bet is to hide someplace with the travel distance we have. A small asteroid, a moon, somewhere not out in the open and where we can stay relatively undetected from scanners.

Xavier can attempt to leave a false jump signature going off in a random direction to hopefully get them to chase it.

We need to find a way to disappear, somewhere the Bureau can't follow and the Jedi will deem too much trouble. Asteroids could be an option, like Xavier suggested.

How close are we to getting out of Republic space?

I already asked Ush that. There is no way Xavier is making it out of Republic space quick enough.

Makes sense, do the Jedi, or at least the Jedi Council also have access to this network normally? It would make their jobs a lot easier to be honest.

No, it's not under their jurisdiction.

Jelena is certainly impressed by the unified network. The reach of the Jedi is great but they do not have something so coordinated. Can she make a Law roll to think about how much work this would've taken on a lawmaker and diplomatic level?

She will look for the Dark Jedi ships in the network.

It took a tremendous amount. It has all sorts of ramifications re: privacy concerns, which is why the Senate restricted its use only to the agency newly created to operate it, which is the Bureau.

And they have a lock for you already.

Then let's get to it! Jelena will query the Bureau cruiser comms officer if they intend to follow as well.

Time to hide!!!!!

The Bureau ship is not a pursuit ship- it's cumbersome for a chase. They'll leave that to you.

Well then! Wentar will line up The Free Flier with the coordinates provided by the Bureau's lock, double checking the calculations provided with the ones he started working on after The New Beginning got away.

He awaits Roan or Xeth's orders to hit the jump to hyperspace.

Your basic idea is right here, though note that the Jedi probably feel they have the edge there in any dangerous space.

What you need it somewhere you can't be tracked.

The anomaly that hides Epireus won't keep them from tracking us, though, right?

That's more a long-range thing but it's that sort of phenomena you could be looking for.
