I've been on a bit of a gaming spree over the past month because of the quarantine. I beat FF7R then bought and played through both Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2. I've decided to take a bit of a break from the Trails games and just started up Tales of Berseria. I also just picked up Dragon's Dogma so once I'm finished with Berseria I'm either gonna start DD or go back to trails with Trails in the Sky. Not sure which yet.

Final Fantasy 9 here. 🙂

It will never get a remake or even a remaster, because everyone was playing X when it came out.

Never liked 9, tbh. After 7 and 8 leaned so heavily in to sci-fi and trying to raise the bar in so many ways, it felt like they just did a massive u-turn.

Except that it did get a remaster.

Depends on how people classify remasters, tbh. Porting to a new console and upscaling the graphics? Yeah, I'd consider that a remaster.

Also, not playing the FF7 or RE2 remakes? Really? Damn, CDTM, you're missing out.

We're so deep into the current gen I can't see the point of buying a console now, may as well wait for the next one.

I'm enjoying a first play through of Dragons Age Origins well enough for now.

Honestly, if you had the money I would recommend getting a PS4/XBONE when the new consoles come out instead, as you might get a nice discount. Even with all their talk about backwards compatibility, the libraries will not be nearly as large as the ones the current gen has.

That's just me though.

Well...Xbox Series X will be fully backward compatible with all Xbox One games, 360 games that were backward compatible with Xbox One and the specific Xbox titles.

So if you buy the new Xbox console, the library will just be as big as the previous generation.

For PS5, I believe its only select titles that will be backward compatible...I remember seeing the top 100 for the time being but I could be wrong.

But you are correct, the would be significantly cheaper to buy a previous gen console. Hell, even select Xbox Series X games will be forward compatible with the previous gen (for instance, Halo Infinite will be playable on Xbox One).

Honestly, I have seen the announcements, but I tend to always take those with a grain of salt. They say it'll be fully backwards compatible, but I just keep waiting for the exceptions to crop up.

I know I might be wrong, I just won't be convinced until I see it in action.

Both Xbox One and Xbox Series X are built on the same x86 architecture. Unlike the 360, which was built on different architecture (PowerPC).

I'm guessing the only exception would probably be Kinect based games but they would still be playable (just not useful if you are not using a Kinect).

For the past 5 years, MS has been banging on BC train and used emulation to allow certain 360 games.

Horizon's dlc, The Frozen Wilds and replaying Uncharted 4. 👆

I actually agree, I'm just skeptical because it's MS and I don't trust them to always keep their word.

Wonder if the Sonic movie will breath some life back into Sega?

Much as I like the dirt cheap library, would be nice to see a Sega resurgence.

And besides, I have my 10 different rebuys of mostly the ssme Genesis games already, if prices shot up on the back catalogue I'd be sitting on a gold mine.

Just bought Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Wish me luck.

Rise is fine, but the stealth is largely broken.

Shadow has better stealth, but what feels like less combat.

I enjoyed the platforming and puzzles in both though.

Mmh, what do you mean with less combat, exactly? 🤔

I really loved 2013's balance, as a point of reference.

Metal Gear Rising.

I don't think I'll ever S rank Revengeance difficulty the way I'm going. I'll be lucky to even reach it and finish, let alone perfect it.

In Rise, the stealth is kinda broke, so you get forced in to open combat more often than you do in Shadow, which has better stealth.

Ahh I get it.

And yeah, I can definitely confirm that about Rise from what I've played so far. Not much of a problem though, as I tend to avoid stealth in these games until the higher difficulties.

Sundred Elddritch Edition.

I normally get frustrated with Metroidvania's, but just walking around areas never really gets boring. The combat is also somehow not a frustrating road block to said exploration, but a welcome component of gameplay.

It's just a beautiful game.

I haven’t been able to stop playing Risk of Rain 2 since it hit consoles. It’s still technically a bit early access, but they’ve got one more update left to do on PC and they’re only one update behind that on consoles.

It’s a roguelike, but in 3D environments. For anyone who doesn’t know, you complete stages while enemies spawn continuously. You kill them to earn currency, using that to open boxes for items which have a variety of affects but overall increase your characters power. While moving from stage to stage and taking more time, the difficulty is constantly increasing.

I wouldn’t have thought I’d like a game like this, but I was intrigued by gameplay and once I tried it, I was hooked. It was my most played PS game of 2019, surpassing both Overwatch and Smite.
