Star Ocean: Second Evolution. Honestly not seeing why it's so much better then First Departure?

Roddick >>>>>> Claude. To be fair I just got to Lacuer, so meh, maybe things will change down the line, I've been told the second half is much better then the first.

What I don't get is why this game didn't get a remaster in the US? (It had one in Japan.)

Who are these people on Gamefaqs and such that always claim they not only 100% hard games like Souls or Bloodborne, but that the games are easy?

I mean, I love challenging games, but I'd never call any of them easy. The fact they're hard is why I'm playing them.

I guess they could be that good. Or liars (But who on earth would lie about a video game? You play them for personal satisfaction, not to impress people. Who would even be impressed at a gamer?)

Play Dragons Dogma yet?

A little bit. My friend was really into it.

Some are lying.

The others are folks who forgot they've played through 800 million times. The game isn't easy so much as they got really good at playing it. They've confused getting good at something with something being easy.

My primary end game with Soulsborne is doing jolly coop on roleplay/cosplay builds that often require suboptimal stats/equipment. I can make a full support build for Pontiff Sulyvahn/Irithyll summoning because I've put the time in. I wouldn't tell someone new to do it.

I had someone tell me they beat Manus their first time through without losing any health.

Hard to believe Bayonetta is over 10 years old now. Holds up really well today, even without remastering.

Call me crazy, but I think Bayo > DMC.

Its the enemy designs, they are simply incredible. Distinctive, creative, sick mook enemies. And the bosses! Pure nightmare fuel.

Downloaded Heroes of Newerth again for the first time in years. The community is no where near what it once was, and the pro scene is dead, but imho this moba was the best one I've ever played. I love Dota 2, but hon is faster paced and more gank focused, and some of their exclusive heroes are my favourite out of any moba.

Just gonna say it:

Viewtiful Joe was never good.

Combat is no fun, puzzles are way too obscure, checkpoint system is an exercise in frustration.

I think it coasted to popularity less on quality gameplay, and more for a unique look and feel, and awesome concept, and the pedigree of Clover/Platinum Games.

Give me Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden any day, they are both hard as nails and genuinely fun to play.

Looking at old reviews of God of War 3. Funny how a lot of them say "Stop comparing this to Bayonetta."

I guess Bayonetta must have been seen as competition for Sony's big exclusive hack 'n slash. Personally, I don't think they're really comparable at all though..

Bayonetta did keep up in the epic category though, boss fights were Shadow of Colossus scale masterpieces against Lovecraftian like horrors, and some of the environments were breath taking. Maybe not as impressive in terms of raw graphics power, but art direction, monster design, and immersion were second to none.

Final Fantasy VII.

First time playing it, too. Not blind, mind you, I mentioned I've been spoiled shitless in terms of this game, but that thread made me decide to wanna play it.

Outriders is pretty good. Final Fantasy 7 remake was decent in terms of story, but it was far too short, and it's an obvious money grab..

You do know that there's more of it coming?

Ghost of Tsushima. Really enjoying it.

Its a great game. Replayed it on New game+ for all the new customizable stuff you can get and for the added difficulty, was just as fun as the first playthrough.

I do wish some of the outfits and masks from multi-player were usable in single player, though. The Oni masks are awesome.

My issue with this game it's samurai Assassins Creed.
After awhile, I was getting pretty darn bored because none of the activities were that great.

Well made but I was hoping they would take the game in a different direction than copy/pasting Assassins Creed games.

Playing on lethal mode was addictive. It's the same formula as Assassin's Creed, just with way better customization and a smoother, more satisfying combat. Playing Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla, none of their combat feels as good for me.

What was jarring was playing GoT and THEN playing Horizon Zero Dawn and seeing how garbage HZD's climbing/parkour/free running system is in comparison.

I just wish they didn't go down that route. The setting and story screams to be more Grand Theft Auto style open world and not Assassins Creed.

I would agree about combat until about 5 hours in...and it's more stylized than AC....but I do the same 3 combos over and over...just like AC. Hell....AC and Ghost have the same running and slashing move. I can understand why people would like it more and that's cool...but I don't think they improve the combat that much more significantly over AC.

On the other hand, the sneaking and free running/climbing is better in AC. Or at least I feel it's better.

Kingdom Hearts III.

I've been putting off beating this since 2019 because the KH series just means so damn much to me, I grew up with it and have played just about every game in the series.

Jamestown.

The original long abandoned one that bugs out unless you use a "legacy" beta. I refuse to buy "Jamestown Plus" from a company that won't support early adapters without whom they would never have a console release, much less double dip for a "game of the year edition".

It is similar, but I think it's better than the AC games. While a lot is taken from AC, there are flourishes of brilliances here and there. I love how you are guided to your objectives via the game world and not relying on a minimap. I really hope more games figure out ways to remove minimaps, it's too easy to just stare at the minimap instead of the main screen.

I think the combat is a little smoother than AC too, but the last AC game I played was Origins so I can't be sure.
