FFXV and Watch Dogs 2.I'll try to make some time for Last Guardian too later lol

A new game called Tyranny.

YouTube video

Made by the same people who made Pillars of Eternity.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

Just trying it out, because my backlog is holding me up.

So, looking online, an Assassin is the one you want for the cool Shadow of Colossus climbing and stabbing?

Because on the heart stealing dragon, you can't really get far before you get thrown off. Tried going for a wing, and never made it.

Really enjoying Tyranny. I like it MUCH better Pillars. I enjoy how the powers have a cool down system as opposed to what Pillars did. Makes being a mage more fun.

I also am really fascinated by the spell creating system, because there are so many different spell variations you can create and I've only tapped into a small amount. Example: for illusion magic you have the standard type of spell where you can mind blast people and daze them, but you can also create spells like "false pit" that do actual physical damage because you're simulating someone falling down into a bottomless pit. I've only uncovered a small amount of the various ways you can create and edit new spells.

Why did Dragon's Dogma get middlling reviews??

Just like Shadow of Colossus! In what world do reviewers live in where scrambling up a skyscraper sized monster and stabbing it in the face isn't the greatest thing ever?

Uh, any class with a sword can climb and stab.

I've never tried being a mage.

I mained Mystic Knight for like, 80 levels, then switched to Assassin for damage.

If you want epic stat gains, switch between Mystic Knight and Assassin often.

Each level gained with different vocations will earn you different stats.

Try practicing on the Drake in Devilfire Grove. He is incredibly similar to the Dragon.

Because the story sucked.

And there is no extensive fast travel or mounts.

And the pawns don't shut up.

But I disagree kind of on the story part, there are some damn interesting sidequests.

But the main story is kinda boring.

I liked investigating the cult.

AI was like that in the Tales game's, too, I don't see it as a problem. And switching to the Japanese voice track should make them less irritating.

I'm not sure I can think of too many sword and sorcery rpg's I played for the story.. Certainly not Skyrim. Not Dark Souls, either.. If you want story, you play Mass Effect. Or maybe Witcher games..

I don't know, I feel like the reviewers apply double standards to "name brand" legacies and new ip a lot (Or perhaps the double standard is Japanese making western style RPG's? Sort of like how Vanquish was looked down the nose on, compared to Gears.)

I guess it depends on what you're looking for, but whatever other games do better, they also have spots they do worse. Combat, for one, is a joke in most RPG's, but just awesome in DD. Only Dark Souls is better..

Pawn system is great. Something I've been wanting to see in games like WoW for years. If you don't like cooping, but still want a party, this is how you do it.

I actually liked the combat in DD more then Dark Souls.

Even without the climbing on monsters aspect, the game has awesome combat.

If you haven't played the final boss yet, its gonna blow your damn mind.
