I'll admit the manga was more interesting during the time the anime was redoing the movies, but after that the manga and anime kinda switched places in terms of what was better. A regular SSJ Black losing to SSJ2 Vegeta? Wow, such weak sauce. Now I remember why I stopped following the manga after Hit, though at least he didn't get lowballed as bad in comparison.

I actually had the opposite reaction in the case of Hit; I thought it was pretty retarded that some alien assassin was more than ten times more powerful than a Super Saiyan God in the anime. It just cheapened the value of the label "God," and made it into just another run-of-the-mill powerup like SSJ4.

That being said, I'm admittedly a bit uneasy about the direction the Goku Black arc is taking...

I was like that since the Laker's Freeza arc, and it just got worse with the tourney.

Z watered down the SSJ form like mad, too, but at least they had good reasons for it. Like a Dr. Ivo level super villain analysing the Z crew for years, and creating an AI that created the ultimate life form.

Or a mage who enacted an elaborate plan to revive a force of nature.

With DBS, it's "Hey, here's a bunch of strong guys." All the hype about SSJ God, and a random assortment of characters match and surpass SSJ Red just because they need someone to fight.

Agreed. I can't wait to see Tien. Tien was one of the best characters in early DB until they, forgot about him.

He's like my favorite Canon character. So I'm always happy when he gets to do something.

To be honest, the only one thing I think the anime's done better than the manga thus far is Zamasu's arc. In the manga, Zamasu and Goku never even met; his only knowledge him was through the Universal Tournament, which makes his attitude and decisions odd and underwhelming.

The fights, imo, are higher quality and much more consistent, as is the artwork. The story is also much more cut-to-the-chase, unlike the anime which just drags forever with needless BS.

So you would've preferred no one in the tournament or whatnot be able to give Goku and Vegeta an actual challenge because they're gods? I would've been more disappointed if there wasn't some alien freakshow from universe 6 capable of giving them a real fight. There's only so much Goku and Vegeta wank I can take.

Compared to the anime, I suppose. He lost solidly to SSB Goku without Kaio-Ken, but it's still implied that he could have won with his assassination techs. He's still a god-tier opponent.

Black, on the other hand, is honestly sub-Buu. His base was losing to SS2 Vegeta, then he powered up to SS and was still only on par. He got wrecked once SSB came into the picture.

Yes, I've read this chapter now. But that is only the beginning. He was wrecked against SSB Vegeta, but it ended with Black being healed and supposedly more powerful now.

And if we are honest... in anime when Black first fought Goku in present, SSB Goku could wreck him just like SSB Vegeta did in manga.

The tourney should have happened pre BOG, not at all, or involved listed god tier characters.

This is a form that Beerus was desperate to find one of in his universe, and which had absurdly obscure conditions to unlock. There is NO WAY Freeza OR Vegeta should have gained that level of power through basic training. The entire point of BOG was that you CAN'T reach that form with normal training.

This is like if Kenshiro learned all there was to learn about Hokuto Shinken, achieved mastery of the art, defeated the most powerful masters, and suddenly found greater challenges. He didn't, because the writer knew that would be contrived as ****. This is the reason the last fraction of the series was a meandering, directionless bore fest.

Suspension of disbelief and plot devices go part and parcel with this stuff, but there should be "some" restraint with the plot devices. Take SSJ2 Gohan vs Super Perfect Cell.. That wasn't an ass pull, it had real build to it. There was all sorts of plot development, foreshadowing, and internal logic at play, so Gohan vs Cell felt like a really big event, and had a lot of drama leading up to it.

But now? Toriyama and Toei seem to just make it all up as they go, completely ruining any kind if tension or drama because "Hey, unlimited plot devices." Power levels have no meaning at all, and you can't get invested in a crisis or take anything seriously if guys can get stronger for no real reason at all.

Oh yeah, I agree on that front. No argument here. Power levels or scaling got phucked up/too all over the place awhile ago enough as is and they just try to randomly rationalize the asspull power creeps as they go along.

I actually didn't have an issue with Hit being competitive with Goku/Vegeta, but once Kaio-Ken x10 came into play it just got ridiculous.

He was growing in power though. If he stayed at his normal state then I can understand but Hit was growing near instantly while fighting Goku.

I know this is off topic but can someone tell me how fast they think these 4 were running?

Faster than Hulk can react to, but slower than Superman.

See what I did?

Yeah, I like that.

This show is GARBAGE

Stop watching it..

Absolute garbage. It is the garbage garbage throws out of the garbage can. Even other garbage can't take this garbage.

So this was obviously a friendly spar between Hit and Goku.

What the...?

If that's how it happened, it was a massive copout.

They wouldn't leave the real Goku vs Hit rematch to filler/crappy animation.
