Looks cool. I'm glad to see an updated combat system.

Hey Bent, what would you consider the greatest Dragon Quest game?

I'd probably choose a classic between IV and V. VIII is great though, probably the place to pick up the series if you are used to modern games.

IX is great too, but it's light on the story.

I loved VIII

Yeah, IX was great. Wasted lots of hours on that one.

I watched the trailer a week ago for this remake. I dunno why, but I felt disappointed. It's not the graphics, but I think it's the gameplay. It's just not the same if it isn't turn-based. And the gameplay seems to be more linear than the original.

I KNEW I'D FIND IT.

Pr, the video link should go here, haha.

😂

This one didn't come up in my search for some reason. Looks sweet, though I hope the "more in June" shows us a ****ing release date for the first part.

FF7 skin for FF15 lmao.

They'll probably end up teasing it for the next few years, like what they did with Kingdom Hearts 3.

Meh. It's taken them way too long; the hype is gone.

Nah, they've stated the combat is more like KH.

The combat looks like garbage. No turn based tactics, no care. IMO a change that big is basically changing the entire genre of the game. The turn based combat was fundamental to FFVII.

remake RE4 as a first person run and hide simulator
remake Stellaris as a flight simulator
remake Silent Hill 2 as an MMO
remake Battlefield 3 as a visual novel
remake FIFA into a basketball game
remake Splinter Cell as a MOBA

I bet they'll **** up all the themes the original game had and it'll come off half baked.

I would totally play a Battlefield visual novel. 👆

Hopefully the fact that they've kept us waiting this long means there isn't long left until we get the first part.

Hopefully.

TBH, I think a lot of people (myself included) wouldn't be disappointed if the game was a graphical upgrade while leaving everything else the same. But there's no way anyone at Square with any real power would sign off on something like that, so they were always going to change things.

I just hope that, even with the changes to combat and such, it's still enjoyable, and if they're making changes to the story/events, they're adding far more than they're subtracting. For example, let me, say, play a Vincent flashback or something. The silly humour and ridiculous limit breaks need to be maintained (though I liked how Cross-Slash looked in the trailer).

I don't expect Sony's recent hardon for censoring all of the things to impact FF7 too much, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'd recommend the Seventh Heaven mod, worth it for the 60fps hack alone, if it wasn't for the fact the game mysteriously stopped loading, even after disabling all the mods.

We also got a release date: March 3rd, 2020.

Presumably, they still intend to break the game into parts and sell them individually with the other parts releasing later on...

2020 sure is a popular year isn't it.

Sounds like we'd be better off just waiting for the complete edition to happen.

I'm hoping the Square conference gives us more details. If they say it's only going to be in two parts like it's been rumoured, that's all right with me.

Haven't the rumors about it being in two parts been debunked?...supposed to be from some nutjob that worked for Square-Enix.

Ah ok, I hadn't heard that. Two parts would be good to me, still. Three would be acceptable. Any more than that and it starts getting iffy.

I hope Square's conference is all about Hitman and its several DLC waves
