So you know that Red has been experimented on, tortured and without his armor (obviously) for a considerable time.
Before that fall, Red took punches from Colossus and stabs from Wolverine. Do you even know how NC's teleportation works on people that haven't had any experience with it? It drains stamina to the point you lose consciousness.

No, it doesn't only go for normal people. Even f*cking Wolverine was affected by it. So it could easily work on WEAKENED Omega.

He lost, actually. After penetrating the armor, Red was surprised that his pheromones/life drain weren't working and got his ass kicked.
Basically, Tony was lucky he wasn't in the suit. In my honest opinion, he should remote control it more often. Not only it's safer that way, it allows him to beat opponents he otherwise wouldn't be able to, like OR.

And it makes no sense, as Tony has monster strength and durability feats dwarfing the best of Spider-Man. He's no slouch in the speed/reflexes department, either... hell, even his agility is amped enough to matter.
Tony "f'd up" Spidey, too.
Shields and the mechanism can be activated just as well without Tony being in the armor.
What is really protecting him is writer's armor. Or we could say that remote suits suffer from the ninja law.
Anyway, carbonadium is more than tough enough to go through the Modular Armor, especially backed up by Red's strength.
