I think the behavior you're showcasing here is part of the problem, you're unwilling to believe that Australians could behave like this and rather make weird mental gymnastics or intentionally misread what I post to somehow discredit me do to your crippling national pride.

See, I've only made 2 posts that you don't agree with & you're quick to label my behaviour & judge other people (Australians) by it.
Screw national pride...that notion's been disgraced by racists years ago.

Maybe...just maybe...the issue is with you & your friends?
If I was drunk, in your country & you gave me the same condescending attitude as you're doing now....then yeah just maybe my reaction would be to treat you like the prat you come across as.

There's a lot of Irish themed pubs here to cater for all the Irish backpackers that head this way. These pubs are infamous for being loud & crowded with boisterous Irish having a good time. Occasionally a fight might break out & yet we Australians don't go around branding every Irish men we meet as drunk, violent hooligans.

I don't know where you're getting this idea that I'm branding every Australian a belligerent tourist. Again, you're intentionally misreading my posts for the sake of being able to make a counterargument. Never did I ''brand'' all Australians. I've explained this countless of times throughout this thread, I'm not going to do it again. You should either learn to read comprehensively, or stop trying to discuss on an online message board, for which comprehensive reading is a prerequisite.

Secondly, the conclusion I've made about the national pride thing is not just based on your posts, but also those of Genesis_Soldiers, actual conversations I've had with Australians of all different ilk, IRL and on forums like KMC. I did mention beforehand that it is a common occurrence to see Australians walking about with an Australian flag tied around their necks. It's not farfetched to then conclude these people must be very proud of where they come from.

Furthermore, I've seen them harass teenage girls that were just having a conversation, I've seen them harass couples walking by. I could go on and on, but there's no need. Any harassment I've personally received from Australians has been unprovoked, as both instances happened on a tram and where initiated by a group of Australians harassing girls I was with.

Really, the fact that you're getting so offended by the mere asking of a question about your national identity or how it's perceived by those of another nationality speaks volumes.

"Offended".
😆

Hey Gen, what are the big time sports/sports teams in Australia?

See, you're basing your judgement on 2 separate incidents that I can only surmise by your above statement. But then your exaggeration kicks in by stating how you can "go on & on" with what I'm assuming are the various multiple other occasions Australians caped in flags have harassed you.

At the end of the day,it was a group of idiots acting like idiots...why you go on a message board & focus on their nationality reflects your attitude, not mine.

I'm not basing it on two separate incidents. Those are two incidents in which I was harassed myself. I've witnessed other people being harassed by Australians countless of times. As I clearly stated in numerous posts in this thread. Again, you're quite clearly not even reading my posts. Just glossing over them thinking ''Oh, this conveniently fits an argument I'm trying to make, let's intentionally misinterpret it to make it fit even more and only address this sentence!''

So it is strange for me to wonder why the people doing these things all happen to be Australian and not American, British or Brazilian? Again, I'm not the one bringing focus to their nationality, it's them with their flags, Australia-themed apparel and chants of ''Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie.''

What you're basically saying right now is that Australia has a shit ton of idiots acting like idiots abroad, but it has nothing to do with the culture in which they were raised and live. I find this difficult to believe.

However, you've proven to be incapable of self-reflection and having an actual discussion. You've resorted to nit-picking arguments, intentionally misinterpreting arguments to make them fit your own narrative and even ad hominem attacks. It's clear this endeavor has been fruitless, yet somewhat educational. I'm not going to continue to feed the troll, so have a good one.

You forget to mention the bit about alcohol.
Y'know drunks acting like idiots....

Now it's our culture that makes us idiots.
Sigh.

Oversimplification of what I've said to fit one's own narrative.
Sigh.

*Unties cape from neck*

My work is done.

"fit one's own narrative".

Did I say he can vouch for all of Australia's behaviour? I asked him if he had any insights on an aspect of Australian culture.

If anything, he's the one claiming he can speak on behalf of all of Australia by making this very thread.

This place really has gone downhill when it comes to the intelligence of posters.

i identify myself as an Australian

hence ask an "Aussie" anything
where have i claimed to speak on the behalf of an entire country?
where have i claimed to delegate for an entire countries views

Are you literally 12 years old!?

I've stated throughout this thread, on numerous occasion, that I never said all Australians are bad. I never stated that all Australian tourists are bad. I never said that all drunk Australians tourists are bad. What I stated was the following:

There appear to be more belligerent Australian tourists in Europe than there are of any other nation/culture. What this literally means is that although there are plenty of nice, well-behaved Australian tourists, whenever you hear/or see about obnoxious tourists it involves Australians more often than it does the British, or Americans or whatever other country. Do you have any insights as to why that might be?

You answered this question yesterday and was not offended by it. Now for some reason you are?

Also the fact that the two of you seem to think that the fact that I'm standing in a tram is grounds for me to be harassed/assaulted is more than I need to know about why so many young Australians act like such pissants while abroad.

12 out 0f 10 😉
okay so what just because its more so an australian being a dick whilst drunk thats enough to hitting on them more so the drunk british or europeans

i am still not offended was just curious to why i "apparently" was

no that shouldnt be grounds for harrassed or assualted, the reason they are are acting like pissants is because THEY are, like you have said before their are nice australian tourists

their are good and bad tourists in australia just like there is America, china, indonesia. you take the good with the bad

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I don't think asking a question that's not even overtly critical is ''hating'' (I assume that's what you meant) on a country. Just because I'm not praising the behaviour of some Australian nationals doesn't mean I'm hating on the entire country, which is frankly, ridiculous and even dumb to assume.

i am saying you are favouring the aussie drunks over the american or british

I'm not ''favouring'' them, I've just encountered far more of them. I've heard more complaints about them from others. There were even talks of the Prague city council to disallow Australians into the nightlife district do to all the vandalizing. I'm telling you this is a real problem, not something out of my imagination. I'm not even criticizing Australia. I'm stating a fact and asked you if you had any idea as to how that fact came to be.

Hmmm

well if what you are saying is true then it should be looked into
but our government wont do anything

tony abbott turned down obama's support of carbon tax and looking into renewable energy to prevent global warming because he said the opposition wouldnt let him

he also gave 40mill to a university kickout to prove there is no such thing as climate change, so drunken aussies in prague wont be stopped by our government... sorry 🙁
