even though I haven't had much faith in a Han prequel movie to begin with.
Yeah the whole concept is a bit too much Old School fan service. And without HF, what's the point really?
I'm dreading the next Spin Off will be the Boba Fett movie.
Just seems like a waste of films, when they could be doing Old Republic, or TFU tons or just come up with new stuff.
If they wanna stick to the OT though I would have loved a Shadows of the Empire based film. You could have your Han Solo type with Dash Rendar, and fit in Boba Fett. Plus have more LUKE!

As it is currently though... Even if this Han film is great or decent, it won't make up for Han's death in TFA, which was an improper ending to a great character. Han and Leia didn't get their proper closure before it happened either (Luke didn't even get to say goodbye to Han either which was BS), and unfortunately Leia may have to die sooner than later too since it won't be as easy to do everything planned for her character without Carrie. If Luke soon goes too on top of that it'll be the final nail in the coffin, but will have to see how that all turns out...
Pretty interesting article on this shake up:
“These directors are not being chosen to put their personal stamp on these movies. They are being hired to do the opposite, to suppress their identity and act grateful while the producers make all the key creative decisions.”
On a different note, it’s almost scary to read some of the comments on site like TFN. The fanboys over there seem to be more invested in the brand (and company) then in the films being good and creative.
Whuuut?? Ron Howard is taking over...
Whoa..

But yeah, those kind of Star Wars fans described are just scary shills who will be happy with and settle for anything, even if it's rubbish...
No one wants to see corporate-controlled movies.
I wish they would hire a director they like for his particular style and vision and for the most part give him freedom within some parameters and a particular budget. That way for better or for worse you at least get a cohesive and interesting vision, instead of a stale movie created by survey polls and analysis.

Meh. I’ve always found Howard’s films to be rather bland.
