I enjoyed it. Good movie. Didn't love it. It's not as good as any of the Nolan films, but it is infinitely better than any of the Snyderverse shite, and much better than any of the Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher movies.
I was a bit disappointed with how The Riddler was portrayed. Dano played him very well, don't get me wrong, he nailed someone who is severely mentally ill, but this version of The Riddler was basically just an angry incel and not the fabulous self aggrandizing "catch me if you can" criminal mastermind that I prefer him being, and I thought going that route was boring. Plus, his riddles were too easy to solve.
Pattinson was really good. I still prefer Christian Bale, but he's good. I wish that we had spent a little bit more time with him in his Bruce Wayne persona, but I'm down with his emo Robert Smith of The Cure Batman. I also really like that this version of Batman is clearly still green and not an invincible martial arts master or genius detective. He's good, but he has a long way to go towards becoming the legend.
The Penguin was entertaining as hell. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
Catwoman was sexy and cool.
Didn't like the look of Gotham City. It's too depressing looking. Why would anyone live in this miserable dump? Again, the Nolan movies had a superior Gotham that looked like a real city.
I liked how the old school gangsters like Falcone had a pretty big role to play.
This film is really, really good. I enjoyed it. I liked the fight scenes a lot. The story was great. Never was a fan of hoey Zoe Kravitz but she held her own so hoping her hbomax show is good. Paul Dano as The Riddler was a surprise done well. Jeffrey Wright played the Commish good. Overall I just simply enjoyed this...

Just couldn't spare that extra .01 for the solid ten, Brucie?

I watched this and wasn't as crazy about it as I had hoped I would be. I think mainly because it was too much work to try to connect all the detective dots, heh. But repeat viewings and subtitles will probably help that. It's solid, and it's a somewhat refreshing Detective take on Batman. It's dark and depressing and thus reminded me a little of Zack Snyder's DC universe, which I don't mind necessarily. It seems the fight scenes might be been somewhat influenced by the recent minimal-post-production-cuts style like John Wick. I remember the Nolan fight scenes being very choppy and disorienting. So that's a big improvement.
I honestly think the film suffered a little from being over-long. By the time the third act came around I was pretty checked-out and didn't have much attention span left in the tank. I had to return to it the next day. And it's a solid 3rd act, it just comes around 30 min too late.
It loses a lot of points for being too long and it gains a lot of points for, "What does a dead liar do? He lies still."
For now I give it an 8/10.
I do hope Matt Reeves does some more Batman films. I think he could make a killer trilogy. They just don't all need to be 3 hours long.

It was an okay movie, but the ending was weak, and this Batman was incredibly ineffective at his job. Good thing Riddler gave up or he would have never caught him.
That said, I agree the ending to this film wasn't worth the extra runtime.
