Low Herald Tournament Odds

As a recurring judge I prefer when none of the debaters involved has ok'd their strategy, I feel that such preemptive checking makes you lose part of the glory of the big risk/ big reward gamble that is going for a broken strategy. But this becomes a problem if your playing several matches without redrafting, in that case the risk is understandably huge.

Quick question... as a "recurring judge" do any competitors ever PM you to ask for advice on the match they are involved in?

I judged once or twice before and I hated when the people involved in the match I was judging would PM me asking how they can change their argument to "win" my vote. That's one of the main reasons I don't judge more often.

Talk to your KMC buddies if you want input on your tactics, don't ask the judge to help you out, that is so not ok.

What about members have love triangles with recurring judges?

i can honestly say in all my times judging (and i've judged a lot...) i've never had anyone ever ask me how to win their vote. i've never been asked for input either when i've been judging. i've been asked when i'm NOT judging, but that's it. sometimes i help, sometimes...not so much.

Nothing of sorts has ever happened to me. As you said, a few times I've discussed with posters before a match or a tourney happens, but in general I wouldn't judge an strategy in which I've had some investment.

Kind of a dick move to ask a judge for tips during the match 😬

That's what I thought.

Asking a judge should get you a loss right then and there

Glad to hear this attitude. I hope no-one is doing it, but it did happen at least once or twice in the past.

Don't get me wrong, asking friends for opinions (or even input or help finding scans if you need it) is ok... just no-one involved in the judging or hosting

I'm curious guys. In what tier would you all place Valdarian Guy Gardner?
As in the one with descendant Alien DNA who was a shape shifter and NOT a power ring user.

so have we heard from squall...?

I see what you're doing there.... 😉

Dunno about his tier though.

i figured he's between low and mid herald. wanted to use him once, but decided against it for a couple reasons....

Seeing as how metamorpho is mid that's prob about right. Rex has a little more versatility in some ways a little less in others.

I admire his dedication and the effort he is clearly putting into his decision.

.... leo told me that he's just being a lazy d1ck though.

true story.

🙂

I'm assuming this means Squall is going to be the tie breaker?

Some tense match this is turning up to be 😱

You all should find another judge since Squall is kinda late. I'm sure he would understand. I would probably give him 24 hrs...after that, you all should probably vote for another judge.
