Funny enough the latest episode of Ancient Aliens Ultimate Evidence that aired last night talks about aliens and evolution. It talks about how they think aliens had a hand into making humans what they are today, and that natural selection doesn't explain the certain jumps in evolution we had at various periods.
It sounds wacky, but to be fair if aliens did exist they probably would have the ability to do what is being suggested. All you have to do is look at our own current level of technology. We can actually manipulate genes, just at an extremely low level right now. Another civilization vastly more advanced then us..would probably be capable of gene manipulation on a level we can only dream of right now.
That is why I would be very afraid to contact any highly advanced race, not because of what I see in science fiction, but from the things we are already capable of. You could take everything we can do and multiply it in potency and efficiency by the tens of thousands. Imagine the sheer devastation that could be caused.

And how would they wipe us out? These assumptions make an entertaining story but they are far from reality.
You don't think a race much more advanced then us would be able to wipe us out? I don't get that, because we could already wipe ourselves out with our own level of technology if we wanted.

If aliens are biological, they are likely to face same limitations in the matters of exploring the Universe that we do.

If such a race really exists, I wonder why it have not been able to invade Earth in a span of billions of years. If aliens are biological, they are likely to face same limitations in the matters of exploring the Universe that we do.
But now you are just talking about whether or not they truly exist. If they existed and decided to wipe out humanity I can't see why it couldn't be done. Just dropping nukes with impunity from space would do it.
As for if they are biological they are likely to face the same limits, maybe they would or would not. We don't know what kind of lifeforms or technology that are out there. But even if we said there were aliens more advanced then us that were biologically identical to humans..I do not see why they would still not be capable of wiping us out. If they are advanced enough to have spaceships that can travel from their star system to our own..they are still playing on a level far above us.
Now as to your question of invasion..people only tend to invade places if they actually get something out of doing so.

Assuming that Kepler-425b is inhabited by biological life-forms, this planet is 1400 light-years away from Earth. Assuming that the aliens inhabiting this planet are advanced sentient beings and have developed vessels that can travel at the speed of light, it would still take them 1400 years to reach Earth and such a span makes any possible invasion attempt not feasible.
It is possible for biological life-forms to exist in other Earth-like planets, but it is far-fetched to assume that they have the capability to invade Earth and/or defy the laws of physics and/or play God.
In reality, wormholes, time-travelling and hyperspace travelling are purely hypothetical ideas.
There is a reason that Earth have never been invaded by some super-advanced (imaginary) alien life-forms in its entire span of history [billions of years]. Ponder over this.
