Besides, unless I'm mistaken, that quote came out long before they actually had a fight on Dathomir. I'd hardly say it's "clearly" referring to an event that happened a year later...

Sidious was at least as far from his RotS incarnation, lol. And the fact that Talzin still never demonstrated much potency outside of Dathomir only supports my case.

Going toe-to-toe doesn't mean beat, sure, but it would imply a similar level of performance as we saw in SoD #4, and I'd say that's what the quote was referring to. Are you suggesting that Talzin can manage a comparable performance against Sidious off Dathomir?

She didn't wreck Dooku in nearly the same manner as Sidious did. She wrecked him on Dathomir, not to mention it was a non-combat-applicable ritual requiring a specific set-up, unlike Choke. Off-Dathomir, without prep, she isn't doing that.
