Saiyan Saga Yamcha vs. Raditz

The Daizenshuu credits Yamcha with a PL of 1,480 during the Saiyan saga--which is extremely close to Raditz' PL of 1,500.

Ultimately I'd go with Raditz, though. His PL is slightly greater, and I think he has better speed + ki attacks. It'd be a great fight, though. 👆

Are you sure about ki attacks?

Raditz seemed to be surprised with the non-basic ki attacks.

^ Raditz was surprised that Goku/Piccolo could concentrate their ki to the extent they could... But Raditz himself was still capable of releasing very powerful ki attacks in his own right:

I think basically, they were simply in Raditz's tier.

I don't know which one is supposed to be more valid than the other, one is a direct statement in the manga, unless it was mistranslated, I wouldn't think "the evolution of Goku's power level" should trump it.

Herms's translation has Nappa saying the Saibaman's PL rivals Raditz's

The scanlation posted above is inaccurate.

The translation from VIZ states that the Cultivars/Saibaimen have a PL "over" 1,200, and are equal to Raditz:

So yeah, the Daizenshuu's PL of 1,500 makes sense, imo. That's why PLs in the 1,300+ range were enough to injure Raditz--or potentially even kill him, if they were piercing-type attacks(like Piccolo's SBC.)

There'd be no reason to even mention 1200, if their power levels were 1500.

We know his PL was above 1,200, but no more than 1,500. Exactly where in that range he fell is open to opinion, I suppose.

They're close enough that the ki difference is mostly negligible and Yamcha's performance against the Saibaman(who are pretty clearly below Raditz if only because the Saiyan is a more experienced fight) shows him as being on that level. And on roughly even ground, Yamcha will win.

Yamcha loses because he's Yamcha.

Yamcha. don't earth fighters power-levels boost when they use their attacks like the kamehameha? With that close of a number the boost should put him over the edge.
