You speak as if it was up in the air as to whether Trump would attack someone's spouse, but I never felt that it wouldn't happen. Especially when that spouse is someone who is going to be looked to for advice on potential decisions.

So I think Bill is still popular, but he's also more then fair game. This isn't like with Cruz IMO, because I couldn't even give you the name of his wife, and I doubt she has done anything of merit. Did Cruz say he'd look to his wife for advice on the economy?

So I think Bill Clinton is definitely fair game. Much more so then any other candidates spouse.

All potential First Ladys (soon Husbands) have the same possibility. eg In some nightmare realm/reality where Cruz won the presidency, he could have appointed his wife as an economic advisor just the same
