Russian Operations in Syria

Pretty worrisome. What really surprises me is that Russia is still so gungho about Al-Assad. You'd think they'd write him off as a ****up and look for a replacement.
The only reason they weren't as cozy with Assad in the last few months was because Europe and the US were really set against it. Russia eventually decided that the West is all talk and went to act in their typical Russia ways.
It was a savvy choice from their point of view. It's kind of our fault they went there though.
Remember "Assad Must Go"
He isn't going anywhere

And Putin has just nut checked and slapped Obama in the face.
I just can't imagine Al-Assad governing a reunited Syria, not one with any hope of renewed prosperity.
I think the Baath Party should remain in the political future should there be a transitional government and reconciliation, but there's no place for the Assad family. Even the Alawites are starting to cool off to Al-Assad because they realize he's only interested in how #1's doing, **** everyone else.
Al-Assad and Kim Jong Un prove that just because a dictator's son gets an education in a progressive European country and learns to appreciate Western culture doesn't mean he's still not the son of a bloodthirsty dictator.
I remember when this all started, our very own SamZED claimed that Bashar wasn't like his dad...that didn't really hold up, did it?

How do we get Russia out? It seems Russia is making allies in the Middle East.Syria, Iran..

You may need to refresh on your history a bit. Russia has been allies with Syria since Soviet times. That isn't new, the only new development is that Russia's apparently decided to double down on Al-Assad. With Iran, that's more of a new development, but I don't think they're allies as much as strategic partners. Russia wants good (or at least non-acrimonious) relations with Israel and with the Sunni Arab countries, and that will guarantee that Russia tempers its support of Iran somewhat.
The Iran thing is disturbing though. Russia seems to be purposely giving the US the finger while the nuclear deal is in the works and Iran is playing along.
But if Iran does indeed have troops on the ground in coalition with the Russian forces, that means Israel and likely SA will be joining in at some point. Syria's going to get even more ****ed.
