TI, you seem to be under the impression that the Syrian Civil War was some kind of opportunity for Putin to gain more influence in the Middle East. Perhaps he accomplished that, but more in the sense that he's positioned himself as a deal-broker between Iran/Syria and the West. In terms of Russia's strategic blueprint, the Syrian War is and will always be a great threat. The fact they're seemingly sending troops to Syria shows their desperation considering they also have troops in Ukraine right now.
Here's the rub: there's nothing really to be done about Russians in Syria. We can complain about it, but beyond that the options dry up. If we had a stable partner against Al-Assad we could increase our investment, but that partner hasn't materialized. The only effective non-extremist force in Syria, the Kurds, have little interest in fighting the Syrian government and may even be at war with our ally, Turkey, soon.
Are you being silly on purpose? We know why he's supporting Assad, it makes Obama look weak cause Obama wants him out. Quit trying to do your political spin on everything.
"Oh the XZY has destabilized the yadidadia"
Russia is expanding, and if you look at the migration crisis, if Eurpoe cant even enforce their borders, what if Russia says look, they cant even stop some immigrants, how about I take some more land..
Yeah, appears so. But I doubt Russia's sole purpose in sending troops to Syria is to just state "FU Obama!". That would be ridiculous.
Keep war off his record? He tried to bypass the Iraq withdrawal agreement and the US has bombed sites in Syria. Do you even news, bro?
Your ODS is making you jump to crazier and crazier conclusions

Yeah, Russia is so hot at defending borders 😬
Putin is bold, but you should stop idolizing him, there are limits to his grasp.

You do realize you said nothing of substance.Do you remember Georgia or Crimea?
I said what I meant. You agree that Putin's strategy is working, you consider that his boldness is giving him an "upper hand" over the West.
Enlight me. What should we do regarding Crimea?

Putin has the entire EU under his control because he can cut their natrual gas off at any moment. Its not idolization its facts Putin has leverage and can blackmail.
You do remember a tho, Putin will do whatever is necessary to win.
The difference between putin and obama is they are one in the same domestically, but internationally Putin is the bear, and Obama is the fare.

So do you think it's a good or bad thing that someone other than the US and its traditional allies are finally getting off their asses and tackling serious problems in the world?

You mean the serious problem of killing off the Syrian Freedom Fighters? Yeah. Those guys are total douches.
