Well, he does make good points when talking about gun ownership rights and some other important issues like immigration despite his ignorance on this subject. Afterall, the pope has deceived over a billion people at least so psmith is not alone on that. He's pro-peace and anti-nuclear weapons, the Iran deal is in both those directions.
He's pro-stability and environment, so, climate change (climate change affects crops which can thus affect stability due to hunger and such).
Abortion's not covered in the bible, and everyone knows the RCC's stance on it anyway. There's no need to put it as top of the agenda when there's plenty of other high-priority things to talk about that have less focus.
He'd rather deal with Islam by dialog and having it be less radical/more live-in-peace-y, than fiery rhetoric. Though he is still solidly anti-terrorism.
This is Pope Francis. There are no surprises about any of these stances.
