But in any anime with superpowers, fantastic monsters, super ki, crazy martial arts or demon summoning, etc... he would get one-shotted.

Iruka? Iruka can casually win with a barrier jutsu, or a windmill shuriken.
Genin- including Sakura- leap around from tree to tree with obvious superspeed, and Sakura's aim and reflexes is good enough to hit shuriken in mid-air with her own shuriken. Also, she was able to haul around sizable trees for her traps.
Hercule, and other DB no-chi types, are simply rather unimpressive.
Even his best area, his strength, isn't really special to a genin.
Could you explain what advantages you *think* he has over a genin? Because it seems to me genin Sakura should have a solid edge on him.

Note on the bus thing- Real life people have pulled single busses. It's impressive, but it's only a few times real life. We also saw his brick breaking- where he failed to break all the bricks, indicating that's the limit of his striking power.
And he didn't 'tank,' so much as get one-hit KOed and luckily survive.

Hm, he doesn't use ki attacks, but he does sense ki and train with ki users, so I'd say he has developed ki, just not the techniques of the other. Probably focuses it into his sword.

Yeah, another series like Higurashi, or Clannad. Hercule is a regular, pique physical human, who can be killed by bullets, and pretty much anything that a regular human can. He survives the things he does in DBZ because the characters spare him.
