She did the right thing for her behalf, but she can still be punished despite of that. Anything in between is just Justice admitting their occasional bullying of law-breakers.

The article is vague & we're all speculating.

I just wonder if she knew that pepper spray was illegal, she should've not mentioned she used it when she made the report to the police.

I initially thought the attacker might've tried to counter lay assault charges back at her but he ran away & wasn't caught.
