The Flash

Following the departure of the film’s second director Rick Famuyiwa, Warner Bros. has set “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” scribe Joby Harold to overhaul the script. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the report when reached by Variety.

Prior to Famuyiwa, Warner Bros. had brought on first-time director Seth Grahame-Smith to both write and direct the film. Grahame-Smith ended up leaving the project last April due to “creative differences,” and the studio quickly replaced him with Famuyiwa, whose profile has been on the rise since “Dope” premiered to critical acclaim back in 2015.

Since losing its second director, news surrounding the project has been few and far between, with fans wondering if the film would land a third — and hopefully final — director quickly enough to retain the film’s 2018 release date. As star Ezra Miller readies for his return for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2,” though, it seems unlikely that “The Flash” will make its scheduled 2018 release date.

Harold will be the third person to tackle the project, as both Rick Famuyiwa and Seth Grahame-Smith worked on the screenplay before their departures.

The film has already begun casting for key roles, with “Dope” actress Kiersey Clemons cast as Iris West, and Billy Crudup on board to play Barry Allen’s father Henry in the film. While it’ll be a bit before we get to see “The Flash” on the big screen, fans will at least be able to see Clemons as Iris West when “Justice League” premieres later this year.

Harold’s upcoming projects include “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” which itself has seen plenty of setbacks leading to its release, and the previously announced “Robin Hood” and “Twilight Zone” reboots for Warner Bros.

not worried a third script because that will turned down and a 4th one will be written

Robert Zemeckis In Talks To Direct

We'll see. Can't get excited for this now until they start shooting.

Even announcing a director and release date means nothing, because we've been there twice before.

isn't Zemeckis a has been?

qhen was his lst hit??

It's not been confirmed, just in talks. The writer strike might play a big part in his decision. But he'd be perfect, IMO. Really liked The Walk. He's a good storyteller, and a big fan of the Flash.

^ Plus they might want Flash to be a time travel movie.

Even with time traveling, seems it'd be retreading what the CW Flash already covered, but whatever. If it's portrayed good, then it's good.

Robert would probably be game.

They will not care about that, given the CW Flash only gets about 2-3 million viewers.

For me I'd just be happy if they make a good film. Even if it retreads the Tv show, at least it will be on the big screen and with countless millions to spend on special effects.

'The Flash': Matthew Vaughn, Robert Zemeckis, Sam Raimi on Shortlist to Direct

Justin Kroll is sharing more on his Twitter. He was spot on right before Matt Reeves signed on to do Batman, IIRC.

I can confirm @Borys_Kit about WB possibly pushing for Bob but want to see if things work with either Matt

"The Entertainment Weekly is reporting that both former SPIDER-MAN directors, Sam Raimi and Marc Webb, have declined to direct THE FLASH for Warner Bros Pictures, with Robert Zemeckis still in the running as the studio's top pick. Furthermore, Billy Crudup ("Almost Famous"😉, who was lined up to play the hero's father, Henry Allen, has dropped out of the movie. There's no word on how that'll affect Crudup's cameo appearance in Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE."

I don't know if I buy that rumor. Crudup didn't mention in his latest interviews that he was dropping out. If Zemeckis gets the job, he could want his own actors, but according to Umberto Gonzalez

🚨🚨 DCEU UPDATE 🚨🚨

Not so fast. Reports of Billy Crudup leaving THE FLASH are NOT TRUE! Crudup is still attached to play Henry Allen. PLS RT

Aaaand that was fast! No pun. 😄

Billy Crudup Isn't Dropping Out of 'Flash' Movie

Sorry, Inhuman. 😉

^ Its not like that would have been some major loss anyway.

The Flash movie has already suffered far worse Lol

Gologo has headquarters on speed dial

Depends. If they get Bob, that would be better than the last few choices WB picked. Same with Mathew Vaughn. Although, I would like to see Matt on the MOS sequel instead.

Zemakis is a fine director, but Raimi would be a better fit for The Flash, imo.

Though I'm highly disappointed with everything I've seen of Ezra's flash thus far.
