Well, after rewatching the 4th film it's really not as bad as I first thought. I kind of liked where the story went. I mean, there wasn't really any other way for the story to go, I guess. It was odd to me at first, too, but it works.

One thing I realised from watching all those movies is that I don't like Kate Beckinsale. Her acting was subpar in all movies except 2
Well, she wasn't in the 3rd one. I don't know what you're talking about. She brings a lot of credibility to an otherwise quite ridiculous role. She's perfect.

I liked the first and and second one that's about it. This series and RE has made me hate franchises. I am not looking forward to anymore of these
I kind of see where you're coming from, but the real appeal of these films is the character design and set pieces. It's a world. The world is fun. I can't stand franchises like Fast & the Furious where there's really no justification for the absurdity.. people jumping ontop of cars, and cars flying across to other buildings (Jesus, they really ran out of ideas with that franchise). And they bring in Jasan Statham (another action star) to build up excitement, so it's about the actor and not having a good character. Underworld incorporates good character actors and at least it's a fantastical world, so the action makes some sense. But Underworld owes a lot to The Matrix for its style, for sure.
