RT consensus is already in while sitting at 85% so far. I feel like they should wait for more reviews cause the number of reviews will probable double or triple, but whatevs...
Critics Consensus:
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's action-packed plot, dazzling visuals, and irreverent humor add up to a sequel that's almost as fun -- if not quite as thrillingly fresh -- as its predecessor.
I enjoyed it, At Least an 8.5/10
Spoiler:
We get to see Howard the Duck againAlso some Watcher's during Stan Lee's cameo
and they do stick to Ego's design from the comic's after all
One of the Post credits scene involve's Adam Warlock cocoon, So i'm not sure what the hell The Collector had in his collection then
It was a solid film with its flaws.
Some standouts being Yondu as a character, Stan Lee's cameo made me laugh, Nebula was cool,
Spoiler:, some of the visuals were great, and of course the cast chemistry. Some of the extra material like seeing
The Pacman construct
Spoiler:was cool as well and the fact
Howard the Duck
Spoiler:will be making an appearance at some point and seeing the
Adam the Warlock
Spoiler:just goes to show how these films are a catalyst for bringing in the cosmic stuff. I liked it a hell of a lot more than bland as **** Doctor Strange and Antman but it did have its flaws.
Watchers
Ego joins the heap of shitty MCU villains, I didn't connect with any of the main cast (aside from Yondu), and Drax, Gamora, and others were hardly used other than comic relief/ pretty standard Star wars influenced blaster fight scenes. The final confrontation with Ego really sucked, Stallone's cameo serves no purpose, and for no reason the Sovereigns get involved and become sort of a plot device.
The humor as well misses more than it hits, and Baby groot is obviously a huge ****ing gimmick, the romance between Starlord and Gamora falls flat as well. Solid film but not something I'd buy. 7/10
could open to $140 to $160 million
Well this was pretty underwhelming. Certainly nowhere near as good as the first. If it smacks you in the face once with its "family" theme, it does it a million times. It doesn't really add anything to the trajectory of the MCU at all. I would say if you're seeing it at the cinema then sit as far from the screen as you can because in a lot of the fast action scenes there's a mind-boggling amount of stuff happening on screen apparently just because they can. Something the Hobbit films also suffered from.
Anyway. 5/10
