Obama going to Cuba

Started by AlmightyKfish5 pages

Also to throw it out there- people going mental about Obama being in Cuba whilst Belgium happened seem to forget that he's not psychic- he didn't know it would happen. He was already in Cuba and was hardly going to leave a (relatively) historic diplomatic trip because of a terrorist attack in a country 3000 miles away.

I mean, it's not like him suddenly leaving Cuba because of Belgium would actually accomplish anything.

Hold on does Cuba really support North Korea? That is pretty important.

They have embassy's in each others capitals and have had diplomatic relations since the 60's.

And there was some stuff with arms from Cuba being shipped to North Korea in the news the other year. But yeah they have relations with each other.

I mean then again so do China and N.Korea and everyone is happy to be diplomatic with them.

I just think if you support North Korea you can f*ck off as a country.

Poland and N.K. have embassies (Warsaw/Pyongyang) and maintain diplomatic and trade relations. 🙂

Yeah, and for all the USA rhetoric about the evils of Communism and Socialism, it hasn't' stopped them being economically linked with China since the early 1970's (something started by Richard Nixon, of all people!) or trading with Vietnam the past couple of decades, a country America tried to bomb into the stone age in the late 60's-early 70's.

So the only 'dictators' concerning to the USA are the ones who won't work with them economically.

Even if Cuba does recognize North Korea due to history, China is the one propping them up and the reason they have anything at all. When is China going to get into the cross-hairs of the USA? - Never, that's when.

Huh, did not know that. Thanks for pointing that out, for the first time you're helpful 🙂

I am ashamed of assholes who thought it was a good idea 👆

EDIT: This article claims these relations are a pretext to inflitrate N. Korea.

Well screw China too then. I know we won't ever do that, but still.

Hey, Castro could have been your friend decades ago, if Eisenhower hadn't rebuffed him. It's over, you failed to kill him, and now Obama is going to do the right thing and throw out this cold war nonsense that has never worked on Cuba.

Again you have no idea what you are talking about. Stick to talking about underage boys.

If the US stopped trading with every country that has questionable practices, the US wouldn't be trading with many countries.

Maybe, but it's still a shitty situation.

That's the thing with all this, depressingly enough realpolitik is a necessity and as such ethical concerns fade into the background.

He shouldn't even be there in the first place, he is having a bunch of fun with a dictator, and people who support terrorist, all the while American's have been hurt in the Brussels bombing, a bunch of our allies just suffered a big attack.

Cuba supported the destruction of Israel in the 6 Day War, then supported the Yom Kippur War against Israel.. Yeah Obama should have left, he should have other things to do then kissing up to the Castro's.

That's somewhat true, but Obama could do a lot better. He just doesn't want to imo.

If you're so bent out of shape over Israel you should know that Saudi Arabia has historically supported Palestine in times of conflict and supports or supported Israel's withdrawal from the West Bank.

You should also know that Saudi Arabia is one of the US' greatest allies and Obama has gone there too for diplomatic relations. Hell, George W. Bush probably power-bottomed for the SA king during his presidency.

Yeah they are one of our greatest allies, but not everything's perfect.

Not go there, especially when the dictatorship hasn't done anything to warrant a US President visiting there in 88 years! He hurts his own people under socialism, the US embargo isn't the cause of Cuba's problems.

Okay then
