Okay, so I watched Power Rangers last night. Some stuff I liked (Rita and her backstory, the history of the Rangers), and some stuff I didn't (the visual choices, the lack of Goldar being an actual character), but the one thing that stuck with me is that I don't really think they knew what they were doing with the movie.Who was it supposed to be aimed at? The people our age for the nostalgia? Because it wasn't close enough to the original for me, even taking in to account that obviously they have better SFX and can modernise shit.
Was it aimed at kids? Not with teen drama and 90 bloody minutes before seeing the costumes, it wasn't.
Just a shame really; it had enough interesting parts that if they had just sorted some shit out, it could have been much better and obviously more successful.
It was alotta fluff. I agree on Rita though...great choice.
The big takeaway is that time and time again it shows that cgi and special effects dont make a movie. The best thing about the show was the characters. The original 5 plus Tommy/Bulk/Skull even Alpha etc made it memorable. Yea they were typecast but there was heart to the show. Even recurrent viewings of old episodes hold up well. I recently watched Season 1 on Netflix and couldnt break away. Hopefully the next film tries a more simpler approach instead of all the smoke and mirrors. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
God I hate Inhumans
Every sense Attilan was destroyed and Medusa amd Co. decided to take up residence on Earth their depiction annoyed tf outta me. Most of all Karnak
Karnak is a dick. This sums up Secret Warriors #5. Hell, Secret Warriors in general.
Seriously tho, Karnak is a total dick in this issue. More than usual. Selling his son to a mad scientist (even Mr. Hyde is like “that’s cold”), clearly creeping out Lunella and Kamala and generally being an ass. It’s hard not to get amused seeing how much of an ******* he is in that bile fascination kind of way.
Other than that we have a nice character moment between Daisy and her father with the right conclusion. And some plot hooks for the following story arcs involving Deadpool and Mr. Sinister.
