What makes you feel he loses all?

Bart's trolling blends so seamlessly with his real thoughts it's impossible to tell if he's being serious.

Well, Ventress surely doesn't stand much of a chance, does she?

Honestly I'm with Bart on this one. 😬

For all his hype was he not defeated fair and square by pre-prime Kyle Katarn, while amped by a nexus?

The more "canon" version of the event is that Kyle blindsided him with force sever or something of that nature IIRC.

Mmm, managed to find the novel depiction. I think it can be interpreted that he used the power of the Valley to create a wall of light, and cut Jerec off from the Force.

That would make much more sense. mmm

Still not seeing Jerec making much progress here, he's said to be close to Vader in power, yet his Force destruction only paralyses a two-bit Jedi and fails to do real damage to Katarn (while drawing on the Valley). I doubt it would do much to hurt Ventress, and she can beat him in sabers. He's certainly no match for Thanaton, given he one-shotted Nox as a Lord.

Katarn is pretty beast though.

He was also a novice who can't even tell different presences apart by Jedi Outcast.

In his prime, in Jedi Knight he's a novice.

EDIT: Ninja'd

1. Actually, he's stated to rival Vader in power.

2. Believing that he was unleashing his fullest power on Qu Rahn would be pretty asinine. And with Kyle, not only was he not drawing on the Valley of the Jedi, but he casually put Kyle on his ass and destroyed a structure that was holding up an enormous ship. Another showing of force destruction came against Spore and co:

"Spore and all his servants opened their eyes and mouths. A forest of vinelike tentacles shot toward the dark-cloaked Imperial.

Jerec raised one hand. Tash felt a ripple of dark-side power flow from his fingertips. When Spore’s tentacles met the dark-side energy, they withered and died in midair.

Jerec snorted. “Your power is hardly a match for the dark side of the Force.” He cast an evil grin at Spore. “However, you have your uses.”

“If you are so powerful,” Spore said, “what do you want with me?”

I mean, Jerec is a dude who, as aforementioned, is stated to rival Darth Vader in power, scours the galaxy for force knowledge in the perfect era to do so, and was even given access to Palpatine's Dark Side Compendium, a privilege that AFAIK wasn't given to even Vader. It can be speculated that his studies of The Book of Anger led him to discover force destruction, and that the weakness of inferiors led him to create his own sort of dark side elite like Palpatine did. This led to Palpatine viewing Jerec as a tangible threat, and as a result denied Jerec further access to the DSC.

All the above considered, I don't really see how Ventress or Thanaton pull a majority.

👆

I'm still not convinced that game guides can be considered canon source material in any case.

His feat with that freighter and oneshotting Qu Rahn is beyond anything Ventress is capable of

Gleaning dark side knowledge from the greatest source of dark side knowledge in the mythos and being considered a threat by Palpatine should be legit enough, if you don't want to believe the Vader thing.

and being considered a threat by Palpatine

Well, Palpatine is very strict in his policy on rebellious pawns, especially if they have the potential to become powerful in a not-cute way. Think Ventress.

Well, with Ventress the implication was that she was growing powerful enough that her AND Dooku collectively could be a threat. Whereas with Jerec, Sheev literally withdrew the DSC because of the threat he and his ambitions posed.

Wasn't the issue with Jerec the idea that he would amass an elite unit of several Dark Jedi to assume power? Granted, those seven dark Jedi ended up being feebs, but that's not the point.
