didn't pre-crisis polaris also steal a lantern ring? pretty sure old school polaris gave hal a couple good runs for his money. just saying, if it can be controlled, john would be in trouble. mags has also controlled exotic energy as well--see proteus. could he affect the gl energy? not sure, but it's possible, at least to some degree.
i think this is FAR from an easy match to call. even if he can't control the ring or the energy, he has plenty of raw power. more than enough to make john sweat this one.

What's his costume made of and why did he use the same hand his ring is on to hit him with + referencing said "shiny" ring?
lol what i was thinking.... angle seems funny for it to be the gauntlet being controlled, but maybe it's me.
i've seen hal's ring controlled:
and it seems kyle's was as well (amping wouldn't matter--it metallic or it's not).
Here is some of his best feats from a respect thread:
This is the famous scan of John's willpower exceeding the capabilities of the ring, from when John tries to recreate an entire Star System
John Stewart flies around the world before a group of supervillains can react, and attacks from behind
Parallax is infecting the GL rings, thus removing the morals of the ring bearers. John Stewart takes down the JLA, takes out Supes with one hit, rapid fires at Flash, and turns WW's lasso against her
^^ No one's arguing that John doesn't have the necessary power. He definitely has more overall power than Magneto. This is entirely a matchup discussion.

Yeah, amped Polaris.
That's basically what Magneto is, yeah?

Which he almost never uses in character?
How often are we talking? He's used it plenty of times. More than enough to consider it a viable defense in this fight. One that a GL wouldn't be able to easily get through.
