Fundamental.

You know because we're all about them ABCs.

A>B>C logic has its flaws, obviously. But I'm not saying something like Dooku > Kenobi > Maul. I'm saying that based on Maul and Dooku's individual skill set as duelists, we can judge how much Kenobi has grown, considering he's fought against the two of them in separate time periods in his life.

You can also assess his growth by comparing TPM Maul and TCW Maul. If you consider TPM and TCW Maul near equals, for example, it means Kenobi has at least grown enough from TPM that he doesn't require tapping into his rage to be on par with him, but not enough that he can defeat him with ease.

That's still ABC logic 😬

Not really. It's assessing their abilities and comparing them to see how Kenobi improved. I don't see how that's just plain A>B>C.

Dooku is not Maul. They have different strengths and weaknesses, as does Kenobi.

Tbh.

Obi-Wan's trials with Anakin were more or less just as challenging as Qui-Gon's trials with Obi-Wan. And again, Obi-Wan has more innate ability.

AotC Obi-Wan isn't "far" above Qui-Gon, but he's above him nonetheless.

Fair enough, but TCW Maul is still Maul. And you just chose to ignore this:

TCW Kenobi is not AotC Kenobi either wtf.

Yes, but if you consider TCW Maul to be nearly equal/close to TPM Maul in terms of combat skill, you can analyse Kenobi's growth from TPM up to TCW, which obviously includes AotC...

Kenobi met Maul 2 years into the war. How do you exactly want to pin down AotC Kenobi by that?

TCW Maul also > TPM Maul, and Kenobi's performance against him was an outlier. 😬

Based on?

Shadow Conspiracy outright noting it.

Interesting. Can I get the quote?

Shadow Conspiracy, statements from Witwer, and in-universe suggestions.

Noice. That just makes Maul badasser than he was.

"Maul had grown more powerful since the last time he’d been in Sidious’s presence, before the Neimoidian invasion of Naboo had turned disastrous and Obi-Wan had bested him inside the Theed power core. His hermitage on Lotho Minor, his lessons on Unbara, his restoration by Mother Talzin, and his training of Savage had all strengthened him, made him a more worthy vessel for the dark side to fill with its power."
