Aquaman (2018)

They're lifting the embargo on the 26th. Good sign. Also:

‘Aquaman’ First Day Ticket Sales Robust: Atom Hits 24-Hour Record; DC Superhero Pic Beating ‘Venom’ On Fandango

The James Wan-directed Dec. 21 release, is Atom Tickets’ top advance ticket seller ever in its first 24 hours, beating the previous 24-hour ticket sales record set by Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year.

This could very well break-out in China.

They've given away way too much in the trailers. I hope they is something left to watch in the movie itself, and they aren't just compensating for another misfire.

Wan don't roll that way.

Once upon a time, I had confidence in David Ayer, too.

It will be good. The only negative I can see is Mamoa.

Had no clue Dafoe and Jango were in this. Anyway, looks like another CGIfest. Hopefully it's fun but I have my doubts.

I wonder if Temuera is playing anyone interesting.

I'd not give up on Ayer, he has more wins than losses and I'd say his best is far better than his worst is worse.

Harsh Times and Fury are two very solid films.

^ He means that maybe DCEU cant make a good film even with a good director.

But Patty Jenkins proved that false methinks.

Temuera Morrisonis playing Thomas Curry, Aquaman's human father. Which is fitting here.

Well, this what Wan said:

‘Aquaman’: James Wan Responds To Fan Who Feels Trailers Reveal Too Much

@creepypuppet WHY ARE YOU SHOWING EVERYTHING IN THE TRAILER?? #Aquaman
To quote Vulko, “Not even close.”

Wan is superior and a more diverse director than Ayer.

100% disagreed.

But I'm hoping he delivers here. The DCCU needs another win like it had with Wonder Woman.

Why? Wan can do action, horror, and now dipps into the super-hero genre. I really like Ayer, too, but he failed with that new sci-fi movie with Will Smith, and he didn't do so hot with Suicide Squad (even though I liked it, overall). Wan is perfect so far. All his horror movies are money makes and fresh with critics.

Also beat Venom for ticket sales on Fandango too and that opened to $80 million.

Wan can do horror sometimes, but action? I assume you mean 'Furious 7' and that was a heaping pile of shit from a heaping pile of shit franchise.

Ayer's best > Wan's best, imo.

Disagreed. Wan had a heep load of problems with Furious 7, yet it still turned out really good. It's also liked overall with critics and audiences.

Conjuring 1 and 2, and Saw is easily over Ayers best. Fury is Ayer's best movie, IMO, but I prefer horror. I guess it just depends on what genre you like best. I'm a horror buff, but I think it's harder to pull off horror movies than crime dramas.

If Aquaman gets good reviews, that's just more fuel for Wan.

BTW, Wan is also doing Swamp Thing, so that's another super-hero/horror thing he'll produce.

I agree. The rooftop chase will probably be the best part of the movie and everybodys already seen it. Might be wrong, but doubt it. I have no desire to see this in the theaters. Going to have to be very positive WOM if I were to go.

That rooftop scene is much longer. They hardly showed anything, since they used a lot of the same footage.

Wan already responded to that point anyway.
