Lol, I was trolling, I hope you are too.
I'm trolling because I know our country isn't considering doing this.
If they were? Then hell yes: if you want to hit us up for slavery then the UN needs to call out everyone who did.
Now I know it isn't just about slavery, but about "systemic oppression" which again I can only assume is an American phenomenon since I didn't hear any other countries called out for it.
Us silly Americans..inventing slavery and oppression. What will we think of next?! We probably invented war too.

All I'm hearing are excuses.
Lol excuses for..what? Am I making excuses for slavery? I don't understand what I'm making excuses over. I don't need to make excuses for shit I didn't do.
Surely..you didn't mean I'm making excuses for reasons people who were never slaves should get some kind of reparation, right? Since no excuses are really needed for that either.

As soon as the African countries empty their wallets for selling their people into slavery in the first place.Don't worry, I'm sure that is the next thing the UN is going to suggest.
I just can't help noticing all these double standards when it comes to race. If you remember the controversy of the Academy Awards? With the lack of black people nominated, it was a big issue, so the award show was hopefully meant to be all about diversity.
Chris Rock hosted, so of course when he made various stereotypical jokes about Asians everybody got upset. Oh wait no, they just laughed and laughed. You see because they are good at math and shit! Just like black people love chicken. I'm sure people would have laughed at white comic making that kind of joke there, right?
Yup, there's a ton of double standards, when was the last time we had white people awards? White history month? Whites are being killed in South Africa because they own land and working to feeding the people who live there, the UN says nothing about it. There's still slavery alive in Africa, focus on that UN! After someone or a country has apologized for a wrong, it should not be brought up again and again, the people bringing it up like that is then in the wrong. We faught a war to stop it, plus it was the Confederate States of back then who would owe money to them, they don't exist anymore. Not the United States of today.
Columbia College brings back the 60's!!!!!!
I'm not religious, but that is one minister I respect.
My favorite comment out of all the comments section I've read:
"the problem started with intelligent people listening to the complaints of ignorant idiots. "

By that logic, we shouldn't prosecute rapists because Saudi Arabia doesn't really. 😬
Nah, this is a "practice what you preach" type of logic. Does Saudi Arabia preach to other countries about how they suck at rape prosecution?
Bottom line: You want to tell one country to do reparations for a certain act, you tell *every* country who has done similar shit to pay reparations as well.
I'm sure you'll still find some kind of issue with that, right? After all, you claimed it makes sense "in principle" but..no, it actually doesn't make any sense at all.

OK, so if the people calling for reparations were also calling for other countries to pay reparations, you'd then support them, regardless of whether the other countries paid up?
I apologize if I gave the impression I would be okay with this under any circumstance, that isn't what I meant. I think it would be silly and asinine either way, but at least it'd be silly and asinine all across the board.
I mean, it's silly all by itself, why go on and toss hypocrisy onto that camp fire as well?
