Mxy ran because as he put it "if he was up to it" as he'd just been tortured by Prime. Prime was able to do that because Mxy's will had been drained making him weaker. Hence the part about turning Prime inside out IF HE WAS UP TO IT.
It's laughable you can't understand what Prime did took its toll on Mxy because of will and torture.
