I remember Sentry flying in and tearing doom apart as they were sent back in time.
Then Doom hits him with a purple bolt and Iron Man tells Doom that he better stop unless he wants Sentry to kill him.
Naturally Doom stopped, like a *****.
Tony said something like he'd kill Doom, but Sentry was a bit too busy getting owned by him to make good on that threat, so I think he was saying whatever he could to get Doom to stop hurting him.

Eh...that's kinda like building a house with the most top of the line security but the walls are made of cardboard. It wouldn't make much sense to not defend against the most basic form of mental attack first.

The most basic forms of "mental attack" is being controlled or having your mind read.

Build a house, with layers upon layers of traps. Booby trapped doors. Laser trip wires. Trained attack dogs. Crocodiles in a moat surrounding the house, with 25 ft walls. Barbed wire, pressure sensors, airtight rooms that release nerve gas.

Also, why all the Sentry comparisons here? The Sentry is a whole nother beast compared to Martian Manjobber. As for the mental blast, why hasent anybody in Marvel tried such an attempt? I dont think it would work, but it may.

Control or reading to me is like working a brain with a scalpel while bolts are just hitting it with a hammer. Like I said earlier, if its a magical defense i say its a wash anyway as telepathy vs magic likely wont end well for telepathy.

How so?
Selene is resitant to magic and immune to being controlled, but can still be hit by bolts. Same with Xavier and Thanos.
Doom's resistance seems to be mainly derived from his willpower anyway, which is well and good against mindcontrol and reading, not so much against offensive stuff.
