Without calling you stupid, you're still missing the point. With Superman gone some other character becomes number one, its pretty simple to understand.
Its not a matter of "filling his shoes", so much as taking the top spot regardless. As for beating Doomsday?
He's gonna get beat, unless you think (which it sounds like you do) that he would have destroyed the earth or some shit, and that all of earth's heroes minus Supes would fail to stop him.
Doomsday faced a handful of characters out of what, low hundreds, of the metas on the planet in his first outing. None of which fought particularly smart.
So, again, not calling you stupid but, man you are being hilariously closed minded! 😂
Just seen this and though im tempted to respond in kind I'll be civil.
There has NEVER EVER been a suitable replacement for Clark. Just look at his rogues...Braniac, Darkseid, Luthor, Doomsday...wayyy above the likes of Captain Nazi and Bladam. Billy doesnt have the mindset or resolve, the leadership, nor does he set the inspirational example that Supes does. Problem is he's more than just super strength. He's also intelligent and is THE big guns out of a planet full of big guns. True Billy gets that lip service. But that's all it is...talk. Your thinking is too linear. Sure Hal and Diana can throw down..but leading? Inspiring? Nay. Batmans gonna follow a ten yr old with the wisdom of Solomon? Good luck. Orions gonna cede to the Big Cheese? Hardly. Hal cant even properly lead the corps and theyre space cops. And lol @ Diana...no comment
Your argument is that the characters didn't fight smart. Doomsday unfettered is a force of nature. Quips, constructs and lassos aren putting him down.

And again you're droning on about replacing Supes in the abstract.
With him gone someone else becomes #1. Its unlikely that person'll match him power wise, so things will work differently from that point on.
No one else is having a problem understanding whatvthe OP's actually asking, so, i'm not gonna try and learn you no mo'.
Better luck to you understanding the next thread.

Wait so you're of the opinion that if Supes actually gets killed off then the next time someone like DD appears DC's going to write the story's ending as "then he slaughters the entire planet and proceeds to wreck the universe" and that's just going to be the end of all DC comics forever?

Im saying if you replaced Supes with ANY other"peer" like during DOS they would've folded like tissue paper and been a footnote.

Now in regards to this thread, it's simply asking who's considered #1 if Supes gets taken out of the picture. Not "who's got already got on panel feats equal to Supes", just "who becomes top dog if they kill off Supes".

What Sin has said. There's not a replacement. None of these "big guns"are as powerful as Superman (and, depending on his mindset, they aren't even close to him) nor as inspirational.

Without Superman Doomsday rampages and kills everyone.
Without Superman a handful of probes take down Earth in OWAW.
Without Superman, the rest of them could barely slow down Black Adam.
Superman took a year off in 52 and it led to both WW3, and Final Crisis.
lol.
Without Superman due to falling to Doomsday and his body being stolen to be used as a battery for Eradicator, Mongol and Cyborg Superman destroy Coast City[who weren't beaten until his return], which causes Zero Hour.
Without Superman, it is very consistent that the universe is ****ed.

Yeah but I still just don't see it. The reason Diana has endured in popularity all these years is because she's THE woman. Supergirl on the other hand... we've had like 4 or 5 of them now. Putting Kara in the top spot means splitting the relatively small female fangirl comic base between 2 characters. Honestly, you couldn't push Kara into the top spot without hurting WWs position. They could maintain both for a year or two, but ultimately I think it'd hurt sales(Kara wouldn't pull in as much as Supes does and WW would lose some of what she's got now) so I just don't think it's something DC would go for on anything close to a permanent/indefinite basis. Not to mention the fact that between Kara and WW, which one is physically superior is kinda up in the air among fans. Clark has clear physical superiority which WW can offset to a degree with her gear, but Kara and Diana are so close that WW's gear should give her a definite advantage. To me, it would make more sense to bump WW to #1 and bring in someone else to fill the empty spot in the trinity than it would to try to push Kara into the top spot. The whole idea of the trinity is kinda dependent on the ideals, Clark is the TOP man in the universe, WW is the TOP woman, and Bruce is the TOP human. Too much overlap and the trinity is too unstable to support it's basic premise.
Plus, we're talking about a world without Superman here. Some of his former readers would follow Kara/WW(or both), if they weren't already. I don't think there'd be as much conflict as you're thinking.
And to all the "World ends without Superman folks", c'mon. You think DC would just have everyone die and fold their company? Yeah, his role, currently is as the top dog. Were he removed, they'd push someone else. They'd literally have to.

Think of it like this, quanchi inherits several billion dollars and buys DC comics. He decides to leave all the editors and writers in place and let everyone do their current jobs as is except for one thing... he calls a meeting and tells the people "You're permanently killing of Superman next month. You can keep the rest of the Supes family if you want and pick whatever new flagship character you choose, but Clark Kent/Superman is never going to appear in another DC comic once we kill him off."....
...now who becomes DC's top guy to save the universe when everyone else fails?

Not sure I'd agree. Wonder Woman is neck and neck with Superman in sales. And Supergirl outsold both Superman and Wonder Woman the last two months, granted those were number 1s(which did about as well as SM/WW's recent #1s). Having a popular tv show keeps her on the tip of people's tongues.Plus, we're talking about a world without Superman here.
