Because Obi-Wan wasn't on a competitive level at all. Hence why him and his Master together were barely a match for Maul.
Just because right at the end Obi-Wan put up a bit of a fight and landed one good hit in a rage induced fit, doesn't mean him and Maul were near equals. In fact Qui-Gon was > Kenobi in TPM.
an argument can be made that Obi was actually faster than Maul, when he jumped from the pit and bisected Maul it was done in the same shitty filming style that was used to display Palpatines speed when he killed 3 out of 4 Jedi sent to arrest him. Just because GL doesnt know how to relate speed on camera doesnt mean it can be disregarded.

Obi-Wan couldn't keep up which is why Qui-Gon died. Without Qui-Gon there, Obi-Wan was no Match for Maul at all.
lol yeah, Obi Wan got kicked and fell to a different level, later on he's caught by that same kick and he clearly learned from it or was in a better position because he backflipped and put the pressure right back on Maul... its very clear that Obi was the better fighter out of the two Jedi, yes Maul was better but not by much clearly as he got cut in half. Part of that was certainly his hubris but you can't deny that Obi Wan was taking the fight to Maul way better that Qui Gon did, he pressed maul the entire time and you can't ignore that bro.

Yes he got kicked to a different level. Got competely disarmed and was helpless. If Maul wasn't fighting Qui-Gon, then Obi-Wan was dead at that point. Obi-Wan couldn't keep up with Qui-Gon and Maul, simply because he was the weakest combatant on the field.
Then Obi-Wan fights Maul again in a rage enhanced state, and still loses.
You say Maul getting cut in half proves Kenobi was close, yet he did it with Qui-Gon's Lightsaber. More undeniable proof that without Qui-Gon Kenobi couldn't compete or win.
You claim it's obvious that a Kenobi with 10 years more experience would be better than Maul, yet a Kenobi with over 10 years more experience was still seriously struggling to defeat a Maul who'd been doing nothing for the last 10 years in TCW.
So yeah TPM Maul > AOTC Kenobi > TPM Kenobi.

Don't waste your time on these kind of guys man, I mean we know TPM Maul > Qui-Gon > TPM Obi-Wan by statements so just neglect the people who try to use extreme mental gymnastics to prove otherwise 😄
