I'm not saying Castro wasn't charismatic, I'm sure for a dictator he was. It's just..it's almost like going "Hitler died today, he was a charismatic man who loved dogs and his country".

The Trudeau and Castro families have a long history of friendship, Canada has had normal relations with Cuba for several decades, and though we are a capitalist democracy we have lots of socialist strains in our system, and isn't considered the great boogeyman most Americans seem to think it to be. That's what's going on up here.

Canada and the European Union became Cuba's biggest trading partners after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and it's been fascinating to vacation there with virtually no Americans in sight. 😛
