Malak was actively sacrificing his reserves of dark side energy to power-up the Star Forge and creating droids.
So, Malak was not even at full power on the Star Forge when he lost to Revan. And he didn't amplify himself by leeching those Jedi's life-force off of their bodies. He was simply using Force drain to heal himself.
