Don't remember exactly where I got the above from, and kinda wish I did.

Illustration reminds me of the Personification of Greek waves.

Last line, last scan should read " ... and veteran games player ..."

This is from some news story on flooding a few years ago.
For some reason "Huckleberry Finn" comes to mind, as I used to have a copy of the novel that included historical photos and/or illustrations from Samuel Clemens's era.

It included the fact that the Mississippi periodically overflowed its banks and flooded local communities.

It also included a factoid about the author that Wikipedia likewise relates:

-------------------

" ... [Clemens] maintained that his primary pen name came from his years working on Mississippi riverboats, where two fathoms, a depth indicating water safe for the passage of boat, was a measure on the sounding line. Twain is an archaic term for "two", as in "The veil of the temple was rent in twain."[136] The riverboatman's cry was "mark twain" or, more fully, "by the mark twain", meaning "according to the mark [on the line], [the depth is] two [fathoms]", that is, "The water is 12 feet (3.7 m) deep and it is safe to pass ..."

The world is actually quieter than it was just 2 and a half years ago.

I was soberingly reminded of this when perusing my collections for my comic and comic book related scans thread:
