So you're just trolling.

From your own citation which was written only two weekends after release:

Shazam! is heading into its third weekend with $104 million on the domestic front and $178 million from the foreign box office for a current total of $282 million worldwide.

...

So Shazam! is just starting to break even and make a profit worldwide.

What is important, here?

Why were you wrong? Do you know why you were wrong? Do you understand what mistakes you made (other than disagreeing with me, of course) the ended up with you proving yourself wrong? Do you understand that it was approaching its 3rd weekend when this article was written? Meaning, had only 2 weekends? Didn't break even after one. Did after two. And it already turned a profit. 🙂

Guess what? $282 million < $340 million

I know this is a hard fact for you to admit to but it's the truth.

Edit - Did you seriously cite an article about the phony math WB used to justify their $400 million movie cost? You just posted an article that proved yourself wrong. Why would you do that? Are other people you talk to really so stupid that arguments like that work on them?

Saw this today, thought it was awesome. Better than Infinity War. 👆

It was good but that might be a stretch.

I did like Shazam better than Endgame though.

Nah.

Shazam is a story built around a central theme and conveys it very well.

What themes were being pushed by Infinity War? How does Thanos relate to any of the protagonists in a way that strengthens those themes?

Sequel is not confirmed according to Zachary Levi:

I wonder why the future of such a “massively profitable” film which was a “sleeper hit” hasnt been green lit yet... Hmm...

Seriously though I loved this movie so am gutted, and this is why I was always wanting this to gross at least $400mill, to secure its future. Nothing below that was going to secure a sequel, and if one does happen they are going to massively hold back on the budget.

It definitely was a critical hit that was profitable in the end. Maybe wb is having problems securing The Rock. 😛

Personally I don't think the Rock is the Best Choice for Black Adam. Dwayne isn't really that good of an actor.

If it was profitable then whats the issue in securing a sequel?

Must of been a tiny profit (if any) which isnt really justifying a bigger budget sequel. Which of course would be needed going forward given the end twist, and the origin story being done.

Yeah they probably trying to get the Rock for the sequel now, to justify a bigger budget film.

Why guess on the profit when You're unsure of the numbers? It made a healthy profit, and that's not including merchandise and home video sales.

Just because a sequel hasn't been confirmed, doesn't mean it won't soon.

If Only Shazam had the same kind of Brain Dead Shill Fan Base like Marvel..Those tools will waste their money on the lamest crap.

...see endgame.

Urm youre the one guessing on numbers. The studio knows which is why they are rethinking the sequel after rushing to announce it OW.

Theres clearly no “Healthy” Profit here. I dont know what your and Dadudmens obsession is in pretending this made some Massive profit, when its very clear it did not.

Try harder.

According to actual movie experts, clearly not you, it hit profitability in less than 2 weeks.

👆

I'll wait for you to link an irrelevant article and then watch you beat your chest in an oddly inappropriate triumph.

Edit - Read the article from Levi. He didn't even come close to implying that the already confirmed sequel has been cancelled. 😬 He simply commented on not knowing the direction for the characters and story. Original screenwriters have already been brought back and that was confirmed over a month ago.

Guessing? I've been providing link, you haven't. But ok. 👆

Urm unless your link was from WB/DC directly, youre just guessing.

Why? I've already called you out on your BS.

Oh I get it, you're still butthurt that I called you out for not having a clue what you were talking about. Just double the movie budget right? 😂

Shazam has made a Massive Profit right, which is why even Levi can't confirm the future of the series at this point? 😬

FYI this made the vast majority of it's sales in it's first 2 weeks.

If this has made profit, it's a tiny profit, and will only justify another cheap budget sequel.

Actually you're the one whose been flipping out over a simple debate. Clearly because you're butthurt over me calling you out.

As for irrelevant articles, that's pretty ironic coming from you.

But if you like to be educated I can always spam you with plenty of other movies that made a loss despite being in the clear with your magic formula of doubling the budget 😆

Oh wow you actually did some relevant research for once 👆

However your reading comprehension is still lacking given I never once stated the sequel is cancelled 😬

As for Zachary Levis answer, Cinemablend also thinks thats a standard text book answer when a sequel is in doubt:

https://amp.cinemablend.com/news/2471681/shazam-star-zachary-levi-doesnt-know-whats-next-for-the-dc-hero

And besides he shouldnt have any doubts about his next appearance as the character, IF a sequel actually is already confirmed and being fast tracked as the initial reports suggested right after OW.

Reading all the above, I really hope we get a sequel. Levi KILLED it as Shazam!

Man this is a top-tier modern superhero movie, not in the same league as IW or Endgame or a Dark Knight or Logan or Watchmen, nor as good as the titans of the lesser-known adapted comic works like Road to Perdition, Sin City, or V for Vendetta, but right there with GotG's, Winter Soldiers, and Aquamans of the movie world.

Anyone else think its release date hurt it substantially? Right between Batson's old alter-ego's namesake (Captain Marvel) and Endgame, plus competition from Us and Dumbo.

Not really. Read again.

I dont think anything hurt its overall success. I think it landed where it was destined to land. First of all, its not even close to the movies like GotG's, WS, or Aquaman. Shazam is a cheesy superhero movie with a small budget aimed at kids and thats how it played out. Lets not pretend its something that its not. Sure some people really liked it, but I think most DCU fans were expecting another Aquaman or something and that was never going to happen.

It's far better than the mess that was Aquaman. Don't even joke about that.
